Lovely! I really admire the variation in this piece: the loose, tenuous feel of the smoke trailing the tail compared to the sharp, compact smoke that forms the beak. The smoke trail that follows the hummingbird's tail seems to echo the buzzing energy of the hummingbird's wings as the tiny bird flies, making this piece feel very dynamic despite the staticness.
I'm not sure if this is intentional, but I notice that the wing closest to the viewer is upside down? I believe the feathers should be facing down, not up. Whether that's an area that needs adjustment, that's your call. That's just what I noticed.

Well, actually that's how the wind should be BUT there's also a twist at the bottom of the wing noticeble only in the HQ image, a hummingbird is little and fragile and also almost unnoticeable when striking her wings ^^

Ah, I see. I was under the impression that the hummingbird was meant to be something like this .

I'm always amazed at what can be done with a single medium. It seems to me that it is easy to create great art when working with multiple mediums/ colors..so good job!

You know, I had second thoughts a week ago when I decided to come back to dA, I thought it changed too much, regarding the people, but I can see now it was a good decision, seeing how people appreciate my work and support me and even take the time to write a comment, not only fav and leave is almost like a boost, pushing me to do more and work harder. Therefore thank you for giving me a push foreward!

you're very welcome! we all find ourselves in such conundrums from time to time.. especially when we are competing with such crap as what appears on the front page sometimes, while our hard work goes unnoticed mostly..
but the point is in learning to define to ourselves what should or should not matter;
if we enjoy the art, we should make art... if we feel that our time online helps touch other people's lives... then this is what we can do for the world. for now popularity must take a back seat over pride in ones'self.
have a wonderful day my friend!

As long as I can learn some new things, make new friends and even get some recognition around here, I will be satisfied. We all learned long ago that life just like everything isn't fair, you can either give up or fight against the wave...we chose to swim against the current...hope he make it through.
Sorry for the late answer, mate, but I've been kinda' busy lately.
Hoping to hear from you gain, Alin.

I totally agree... but sometimes it seems the harder we swim, the bigger the waves heading our way.
sigh,...
don't worry, im just going through a bit of a dark patch. it'll be ok again soon, I know it.
heh...
I came to deviant to become something that is not welcome here online, I guess. life will keep getting in the way but art is what I am at heart.
creation is in my bones, even if I don't feel like drawing right now :S
don't worry about late responses, im probably worse for it than you. I have waaay too many messages to catch up on :S
have a great day my friend!
