Description My Cthulhu finally has a head. Rather than going for the traditionally depicted octopus-for-a-head, I decided to go for a squishy, saggy, mutated jellyfish-for-a-head. He also has six eyes, which might be a bit difficult to see in this picture.

Now, on to the wings...

Nice, I love the idea with 6 eyes, and that they are green beads (guess?), makes them almost glow. May I ask how big it is?

Yep, those are plain old clear-ish plastic beads. As for the 6 eyes, floating around somewhere is a sketch Lovecraft did of Cthulhu, and while he's not a graphic artist by any stretch of the imagination, his Cthulhu had 6 eyes which I thought was interesting.
He's about 6 1/2 inches tall, and about 9 with the pedestal. Tried to keep him roughly the same size as the idol in the story.

I see you're meticulously accurate, (I mean it in the best of ways). Old ones are open to interpretation and many people takes advantage of it, therefore it is nice to find someone who wants to be true to the core, wants to show them as Lovecraft wanted to show them.

Yeah I'm really big on the detail thing, sometimes to the point where I wonder if I'm not a masochist!

That's one thing I like so much about Lovecraft is his creatures are described loosely enough that there can be a ton of different versions that are all true to the original description.

Cool! I'm liking your unique spin on Cthulhu- kind of like a Portuguese Man O' War. I doubt he literally meant like an octopus, perhaps that was just the closest convenient description. I also wonder how much of an actual octopus he would have seen in his life seeing how afraid he was of sea life.

Portugeuse Man-o-war was exactly what I was going for. Those things are eerie looking.

I didn't know Lovecraft was afraid of sea life (though I've never really read in depth about him) but I guess that's not surprising, considering just about every monster in his stories comes from the sea.

This is going to be crazy awesome when it's done, can't wait.
Love those eyes.

Thanks! The translucent eyes were totally unintentionally, I was out of ball bearings and all I had in the way of round stuff were some plastic beads. I just hope they don't melt when I bake him.
