Description Mars, 2062. Space travel is becoming more and more efficient due to the discovery of neutrinic acids to fuel the new Eurodia class boosters. Earth is expanding into the solar system and Mars is it's next colonisable target. By this time Mars has around 1.3 billion inhabitants and is still triving.

Second in a series I intend to create. Hope you like it.

Just checked, the links work! The games are still WIP but they use the FreeSpace Open engine and I suggest getting it as soon as possible.

Like the lights. This would be something I'd like to still be able to see during my life time. It really would!

we will probably get to see the beginning stages of it in our lifetime like the first manned mission out. maybe even see the first permanent Colony within the next 40-50 years. it really wont take as long as most think i mean hell it only took us a decade to land people on the moon and that was with 60's tech. with today's tech we can do it easily.

Yeah, but as long as we spend kicking our heads in due to political, religious and misguided racial reasons, I'm afraid nothing's going to happen. And if it does again only for political and profitable reasons to exploit the new worlds and not for the purpose of scientific exploration. Sigh. Sorry for ranting.

no man don't be sorry. you have a valid point. though i hate to admit, Humanity is still a young and naive Species truth be told we may never fully mature as a whole. but hopefully some day we will grow enough to become what we are suppose to be.

overseer In reply to djomally [2009-12-26 11:10:29 +0000 UTC]

Yes, but you see, the problem is I don't think most of humanity actually realizes that. If most knew that we basically know nothing yet then it would be much better. I mean we feed children books at school and think that's the source of all wisdom. That most of the so called accepted academic knowledge is completely obsolete already no one is interested about. Plus there are all those religious people. Without religion we'd be much further than we already are, because the Christian church alone suppressed and killed so many liberal thinking people during their "Holy Inquisition" it's abnormal.

I give you another theory of mine. Let's say someone came up with a fusion reactor or something like that. I honestly do not think it would be allowed to develop, because all the companies that make money out of fossil fuels would be there with all kinds of threats and demands. It's always about money and power and since the industry funds politics there is no way anything like that will happen unless it could be licensed for a huge sum and then no one would have it.

Sadly the "working for the greater good of humanity and all species" theme, as much as I'd love it, it's far away. It's sad and I would really love to see as much of a progress during my life time in the 21st century as there was during the last 100 years, but I doubt it's going to happen. I'm happy to be proven wrong though!

djomally In reply to overseer [2009-12-26 23:54:57 +0000 UTC]

actually they wouldn't threaten them at all Big Oil Comp would just buy the Reactor and then dismantle it before the general population even knew it existed.
so really we wouldnt know if its already happened lol.
anyway man you have a great point with what you said.
i just wish this world would change.

overseer In reply to djomally [2009-12-27 00:28:35 +0000 UTC]

Yes. I think we're probably a lot further in terms of scientific progress than the general public knows. Just look at the huge improvement in computer technology. Any cheap mobile phone is far more powerful than a home PC 12-15 years ago now just to name one area.

Thanks for all your input on the subject, but I think you're a bit cynical in most of it. Don't worry, when people will realise they know 'everything', they'll understand they know nothing

Let's just see what happens in the days to come and untill then, just dream and make artwork like these

overseer In reply to BroCreated [2009-12-26 12:26:38 +0000 UTC]

That's right. I've become very cynical over the last years! Guilty as charged. hehe
