Okay, here’s some more commission work up and done. Up to the plate for this round is and he ordered up some more art for a story he’s been working on.

This image is ripped right out of chapter 7 and 8 of his story “Chaos in Equestria”. You guys can check out that chapter, and the rest of his gallery with this nice little link I’ve provided here.

Okay, onto the picture. At this point in the story, Sonic is receiving a Hero’s welcome, or a heroic meet and greet if you will, from some of the most high profile ponies in Cloudsdale. Rainbow Dash, whom was alongside some mere moments ago is somewhat awestruck that Sonic is able to casually stroll up to some of the most famous ponies this side of the castle, and still find himself the center of attention.

It’s a fun little scene and it was a pleasure to sit down and draw.

This was my first time working with some of these characters. While I have done plenty with the Wonderbolts over the last few months, I haven’t had the chance to work with much of the extended cast just yet. Fire Streak, High Winds, Surprise (in her prototype design) and Fleetfoot all came out pretty good, even though this was a first stab. I don’t know much about these guys and gals, but I played a hunch and drew them up in poses and expressions that I think would fit their personalities. Spitfire and Soarin are second nature to me by this point. As is the legendary blue blur. I did have a good test in getting Sonic in a hug with Fleetfoot, but I think I nailed that one on the head too.

Then we can start on the color. In my head, this was a blue wash out. Between Sonic, Dash, a few of the Wonderbolts and their collective uniforms, this picture has to be bathed in Blue. On top of that, you can take all that blue into account even before you calculate Cloudsdale’s blue ambiance. Yikes.

But when I sat down and got to work, all the hues came together beautifully. They all play off each other and allow the yellows to really stand out. It makes for a very unique image, even if it is mostly a single color. Mapping this to the show style, I used a lot of soft shades and pastels. It’s a nice look.

The end result is pretty stunning, and I am really happy with how it came out. As usual, thanks again to Snicketbar for coming back for some repeat business. I hope that this image is everything you hoped it would be.
