I LOVE ruins and old, abandoned buildings!
There are quite a few where I used to live. I regret not photographing them all. I do have a few photos from a snapshot camera, before I got my digital camera, but I don't know where I put them. None of the abandoned places in my old neighborhood were quite as neat as this, though, nor would I have photographed them quite as well!

What appeals to me (apart from the fact that it's an excellent shot) is that it's
timeless. Everything from the street to the buildings and even the childs dress
could be from any time in the last 100 years.

I totally agree with , this picture does remind of Kelly Clarkson's song, 'Breakaway." Beautiful composition. There's a meloncholy feeling to the whole image and a sense of lonliness, but yet, I feel hope. This picture stirs up alot of emotions. WONDERFUL job!

The exposure is a little to middle-grey for my tastes, but a wonderful shot none-the-less and don't listen to anyone who critiques the powerline in the shot.

it look like the time stopped in 50's. I'd like to find a place as this one in Paris, but you always fall on a car, or something like that, everywhere...Or it can be the clothing...
You shot at the good moment, no car to 'break' this atmosphere. And the clothes of the little girl look like a 50's girl... Nice done.
Some people have this sort of photo, but you always can see a mark of this new century... not there.
