So cold, so lonely.
Makes you realise the difference between rich and poor in Russia are still quite a lot bigger than in most "First World" countries...

this is beautiful
the fact that it's blurry and black and white really gives this shot character.

i particularly like the fact that he's hugging that blanket/poncho/eskimo jacket(??) thing so close like he's freezing, but he's wearing shorts and sandals like he's hot.

maybe i shouldn't say "i like it" because it's probably all the clothes he owns, but i can appreciate the image and it hurts my heart to see him.

powerful photo.

Sometimes I find my self looking at the sun. Now itΒ΄s the time I do. This is so many tallented piece of art that I have enough words in your language or in english I could tell you my feelings - but it is not the most important thing - the most I-thing is that it made me thinking H.C-B.. the most CLASSICAL...haaaaaa!!!!

As always, you have captured so much in this photo. The brightness tells of the heat and the child's discomfort (not just from the heat). I can feel the grit and dirt, and the sense that this is "home" for someone. Sad and beautiful all at once. Bravo!

People seem to think that this is necessarily an unhappy situation. It might be, I don't know. But I've known many people who were very happy living in places like this, and many other people who are unhappy in much more luxurious surroundings.

It's an evocative photograph, whatever.

In germany its hard to find something like this, by the way...

true... something as wide spread as what you portraid on that photo, location isn't important... i was only going on a whim... satisfying a curiosity...

thanks for that... i guess that this problem is so big that an image like actually feels kind of familiar, make me wonder what can be expected of this world if this image is the one that can unite several countries and all of them feeling as if they were home.

Agreed, but ah, it is rather difficult to find such sights in North American cities.

There's not much that's too old around here. Sad really

No, there are certianly similar scenes, but they are rarely shown on major media sources, and we often pretend they don't exist.

Haha, and I expected you might get defensive!
Yeah, me too, I like to pretend that beaurocracy doesn't exist. That tends to bite me in the ass, or at least on the noggin'.
I suspect that if there were a god, it wouldn't hate physics--but it might find physics somewhat amusing.
