BloodHawk516 [2005-09-28 15:44:06 +0000 UTC]

beautifully done. it's as though the boy is afraid to look at the dog, fearing it to be truely dead, so he forces himself to look in another direction fending off the realization.

Dirtysinnerboy [2005-09-22 18:07:17 +0000 UTC]

The visual element of the lying dog is quite strong. Directing you diagonally to the main subject. There is an "old-time" feel to this. It could be anywhere in the world 100 years ago.

Your images are a wonderful hybrid of art and photojournalism, perfectly framed and meaningful.

Nicely done. The composistion is perfect. Love the way the dog leads to the eye to the child, who is looking away. Very high impact emotionally. Esp. with realizing the dog is dead.

Great capture of the mood and emotions. But this is very sad scene, at least for me . I would say something is wrong because of child's expression...

That's an amazing shot, the boy's expression is incredible yet so authentic, the dog in the foreground gives something more to your picture, this photogrph is, indeed quite sad and beautyful...
In my opinion it lakes slightly of contrast but it's my own taste, it's a great job

Keep up the exellent work.

Very bleak photograph, very expressive. The little boy looks into nothingness, surrounded by nothingness. Even the dog looks dead. Perhaps the dog loved the boy; I feel like no one else does.

Irena-N-Photography [2005-09-14 11:44:16 +0000 UTC]

Thought life makes people stronger but I'm not sure starting at that early age is a good thing. Poor boy, it was probably shocking to see a dead dog for the first time. Maybe this isn't the first but there is visible tension in his posture, like he is trying hard not to look at the dog.

Excellent work, the kind of reportage people have to see to remember there are still places with life harder than necessary.

Astonishing. The child has such young body-language and such an old face and expression. Is this a recent picture or another of your old ones? Either way, I'm sure it's not as old as it looks to western eyes. Another wonderful insight into other lives, my friend

It's an excellent, disturbing shot that demands an emotional reaction without making it easy to know exactly what that reaction should be. I find much of your work like that: you demand more of your viewer than most photographers, and that's a great thing.

But for the sake of those/us who are'nt familiar with the background I think some sort of caption or story may have been useful.
Now I'm going to look up Yakutia on the map.
