Description Yeah, you know he's the best.

This is Mario without a mushroom. I don't think Nintendo have ever really, definitively said whether this is Mario's natural state and the mushroom gives him extra size (as always used to be the assumption) or whether he's really the taller Mario and getting hit by one of the Koopa Troop shrinks him down somehow (as seems to be the modern theory post-64).

I'm not so bothered either way, but I love little Mario. To me, little Mario will always be the best Mario. I sometimes deliberately skip powerups just so I can be littley-little Mario for a bit longer.

But is Mario naturally littly-little, or biggy-big? DISCUSS.

Y'know, I always wondered that too, whether Mario's really just a tiny little person o.o It would make sense, since he always starts out as mini-Mario and the mushrooms have the capability of making him GIANT, and he's clearly not normally GIANT like that.

Anyway. Really cute drawing

The little Mario is awesome, and it's for corageous players! Remember the Super Mario World instruction book? He refered to Little Mario as "Mario" and to Big Mario as "Super Mario", which makes me think that the little Mario was suposed to be the normal-sized Mario. But I think that "Super Mario" is the right size of him. I don't know, it's the one who fits in all the modern games after 64 (the theory post-64)

I think it said that in all the old Mario instruction books. It's certainly how we used to refer to it all, before Mario World was made.

I expect he just realised he's bigger with a mushroom, so he just stays that way. It's not hard to find mushrooms round his way.

Very cute picture.

I think littly-little Mario is the definitive version as he's the first Mario you see when starting NES Mario Bros.

I also think New Super Mario Bros is a remake. Feels more like a 'best of' Mario game than a full blown sequel.

Isn't he quicker as well? That's why I stay as him sometimes. I remember doing my best time on NSMB on the last castle of the first world with little Mario.

Best things come in small packages.

I always liked Firemario best, though.

i kinda like big mario so Ill say his natural from is the big form. I dont think his ever been in iittle form ever since the 64. I wanna get mario galaxy he looks pretty cool on there.

oh wait he was abe to go to little form in new super mario bros on the ds but that was kinda a re-make.

But was it a remake or a sequel? That's the important question. You're right that since Mario 64 he hadn't ever been in little form until New SMB - but in that time there were only two 'main' Mario games, Mario 64 and Mario Sunshine, and I'm not even sure Mario Sunshine was exactly a main Mario game.

It's interesting isn't it? (Don't answer that.)

It was a sequel. It's not the original Super Mario Bros with suped up levels. It's nonsense to think it's a remake.

Littly-little Mario is DEFINITELY awesome...but I can't quite put my finger on which one is the natural Mario? Maybe littley-little...like Popeye an' his Spinach. XD

That's the way I always used to interpret it, and I remember some of the old Mario merchandise of the time going that way too, there was one book where a mushroom turned him into a huge giant, not unlike the really big mushrooms in New SMB.

The strongest argument for the Popeye theory is the fact that big Mario, after having eaten a mushroom, is called "Super Mario". But what confuses the issue is the fact that only as Super Mario is he as tall as the princess, he's half her height when he's "Mario".

Mario 64 is what confused the whole thing. I suppose, because of the primitive 3D graphics of the time, you could say that he looks like Little Mario in that game, but we've since seen in Mario Sunshine a similar Mario at Super Mario height....

Yes I know, it doesn't matter. I'm just curious, that's all.

Definitely, dude! When I first played Super Mario 64, with my little old brain (not that much has changed *cough*) I was like "what? am I mushroomized...FOREVAR?" But yet! At the same time he still looked littley! *shrug* Seemed to be the case, but yes...yes. I suppose he became even more ...'super-er' so to say in Super Mario World what with his awesome cape and all.

Nintendo, you silly people. Although it still seems, even in Sunshine, that Mario's half Peach's size. XD *killed* Or...did she get shorter? I mean, Luigi himself isn't even as tall as he used to be! Ahhhh!! *brain melts*

THE WORLD MAY NEVER KNOW!

Half Peach's size in Mario Sunshine you say? Innnnnteresting. Because half Peach's size is exactly how tall Littley-Little Mario was in the old scrollers. Have you checked his size up against the princess in Smash Bros? Or Mario Golf?

And what was that about Luigi? Tell me what you know, we have to crack this.
