I learned recently, from a person who owns a hedgehog, that hedgehogs' lavatorial habits are limited to the times when they are running. Further, they require a large running wheel with a bucket underneath it for this very purpose. So, from that, I think it's safe to assume that the primary reason for a hedgehog ever to run is to defacate - they needn't run for defence, since they can curl up into a nigh-on impenetrable ball of spines, and I think they eat worms or something so we're not looking at one of the world's sprinter-hunters.Hedgehogs run because it is how they poo. That is why they run. If a hedgehog is seen to be running, chances are, it is pooing.

See, i understand your point completely of why hedgehog's run, but you didnt have to add the crap in the picture, for me i think that ruined it, but all in all minus the poop, it was by far one of my favorite pictures!

That's why I added it! It was a sincere drawing of fun old Sonic running about in the good old classic lovely Green Hill Zone, and then it got ruined by a load of old plops. You could say it's a METAPHOR FOR SOMETHING, gasp, ooh.
(I know what you mean though. I've been tempted to turn it into smoke sometimes, 'cause I do like toony Sonic there, but then that might damage the integrity of the... and the message I... if the... and... !!)

*cracks the hell up* I've never heard of that before, but I do know hedgehog owners usually give them wheels because they're very energetic little critters. African pygmy hedgehogs (what Sonic's most commonly believed to be) have been known to cover miles in a single night while foraging.

Well that's odd to hear. I had a hedgehog for 4 years, and he never had a running wheel. He never had any problems.

very interesting. i'm not surprised...hedgehogs have a few odd quirks, like the foaming at the mouth when exposed to a new scent, then applying the foam to its quills. they are odd little things.

You know, when I first looked at this image, I thought you made a dust trail that happened to be brown like the ground. Then I started thinking...
'well that doesn't look very much like dust it looks like... oh. OH! ... Eww...oO;'
That is actually an interesting fact... I wonder if the guy that created Sonic knows that? XD This is a great picture. I really like the background. It's very busy! You don't see that much these days. Just a lot of photoshoped patterns for backgrounds. Good job,

Well, it's the most memorable level at any rate. Orange and brown checkered backgrounds are synonymous with Sonic the Hedgehog!

I've been guilty of it myself, but this picture was set in the Green Hill Zone. The GREEN HILL ZONE. Come on, if you're not going to actually draw the background on a picture set in the Green Hill Zone, when ARE you going to draw a background? That level has one of the best designs of any level of anything ever, if not THE best.

There is a whole club set up, with many members, whose only purpose is the production and appreciation of sexual drawings involving Sonic and Shadow engaged in various nighttime pursuits. If anyone complains that this is inappropriate or even just silly, a hundred sex-crazed (and accordingly sex-clueless) teenagers leap out of the virtual woodwork to call them a homophobe. This group is relatively mainstream compared to some of the others it's possible to find, and all within the e-walls of DeviantArt.
