I think what you mean to say is "Oh! Pokeballs! Just what I needed!"

I just recently discovered a pretty dark fan theory about items that are in the pokeballs... how it was trainers who died and the pokemon with it's held item was left behind. over time the pokemon died and the item you find inside is actually that hold item :c

It could also explain why you can't use the pokeball cuz in data it's already "in use"

Wouldn't it be simpler to just say that the item itself was dropped or dicarded, and that the games only display pokeballs for simlicity or something?

ofc that's what really is the case, but theories or headcanons like this is funnier xD

In the games, every single item appears as a pokeball during gameplay. Therefore, it's assumed that the item is contained within the pokeball, yet you don't get the pokeball that it's contained in.

Wondered why items could be held in pokeballs. Then I played Colliseum. At least there they were boxes painted like pokeballs.

I think what happens is that when you find a PokΓ©Ball on the ground like that, the PokΓ©Ball itself is the item - empty inside.
At least, that's how I see it.
Doesn't explain the other items though...

Silly rabbit, item capsules aren't pokeballs! They just look exactly the same and also have presumably unlimited storage capacity despite only ever holding one item.

It would be nice if every time you found an item, you got a PokeBall too! *BONUS* At least Pokemon Colosseum and Pokemon XD made sense in the fact that they were chests that LOOKED like PokeBalls.

I always thought that was dumb, lol. I liked the change in PokΓ©mon Colosseum though; they were changed to little PokΓ©ball-coloured chests/boxes instead.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who's thought of that. It always confused me as a newb: "Oh, hey! A pokeball!" *gets a potion* "Wait... what?"
What has been seen can't be unseen...

I always thought if you found a Pokeball it meant that the Pokeball was empty so you just got to keep it.
But this is a funnier concept XD
