Description As promised, here is Rodan's redesign as I would like to see it and, now that we have it confirmed (#RodanConfirmed), there is a possibility that he'll look something like this (since I didn't change it that much!) Such great news that Mothra, Rodan AND King Ghidorah are to be featured in the next film! (Note:Β Anyone who disagrees with Legendary's decision can go f*ck themselves! I'm sick and tired of the haters out there! This movie was the bomb and I have complete faith that the next one is going to be just as badass, especially since we now have FOUR super iconic monsters!) Sorry, that was a little uncalled for, but I felt as if it had to be stated. Anyways, exciting news! So, in honor of this, I had to get my redesign for Rodan out! Once again, it was done with ZERO reference because I'm a badass like that! I had HeiseiRado in mind when I did it because it had the most realistic modeling, even though I like FinalRado better. I did take a bit from that with the legs, but it was also supposed to take from LegendaryGoji's leg design. Not sure how well it worked, but I hope you guys like it!

As with all my redesigns, a bio has to be added!

Rodan
Height: 105 meters
Weight: 43, 000 tons
Wingspan: 210 meters

Biography:
Another newly-discovered prehistoric Daikaiju, Rodan was the eye in the sky of the Permian Period. Though massive, as all his Daikaiju brethren are, Rodan is by far the fastest of them all, able to easily reach speeds of mach 35, enough to shatter jets and level buildings just by flying next to them! However, Rodan is not a very powerful monster in terms of strength. As far as Daikaiju go, he is very fragile and prone to severe damage if left unable to move in close-quarters combat. Rodan requires freedom and mobility, for his attack strategy revolves entirely around speed. Though none of Rodan's attacks are very dangerous in themselves, they become so when coupled with his blinding, Earth-shattering speed. Sporting four hooked talons on each foot, Rodan will strike with rapid kicks and slashes from above to bring down larger enemies. Aiming for the head is one of his specialties, for it is often higher than the rest of the body, exposed and set perfectly in Rodan's domain, not to mention vulnerable. His beak is medium in size but sharp and very sturdy, allowing for powerful stabs and snaps. His bite, however, is not all it's cracked up to be, for Rodan sports no teeth. His wings can also serve as lethal weapons. His hands can be swung with great force and, like his feet, also sport large talons, which can rake opponents with deadly speeds. However, edge attacks are not all Rodan can wield with his massive wings. Hurricane-force winds can also be produced if Rodan flaps his wings but once, and a continuation of the action will no doubt topple any building (or any Daikaiju, for that matter!) Rodan, though light-weight (for a Daikaiju) and brittle, does have means of bodily protection. Running down his spine is an array of long, points spines that tell predators and rivals to keep at bay. His soft stomach is also protected by plated, throned armor, which, though defensive in nature, has a porous structure that makes it lightweight. Β The two spikes that face backwards on Rodan's head have an unknown purpose. Most likely ornamental crests, they are obviously not for battle purposes. Perhaps they were used in courtship? Some people say they have seen Rodan breath plumes for radioactive, reddish-purple flame, but those are simply myths. No documented cases have ever been filed.

By the way, just to let you know. The Toho monsters may not all appear in "Godzilla 2" according to later news.

For example, we might just get Rodan for the sequel and then Mothra and Ghidorah for the third film etc.

However, I also heard that AFTER they announced these three, they mentioned they may get other Toho monsters.

Really cool Rodan design and description.

I heard that as well, but I'm going to hope and pray that they keep this lineup ands use it for just the sequel. That would make it just like King Ghidorah: The Three-Headed Monster, which would awesome! It doesn't have to be a remake, it could be completely different, but seeing all four of those classic Kaiju on screen at the SAME TIME again would be priceless!

I also hope they get more Toho monsters, because even though this lineup is great, I don't think it's enough for two sequels. I think the audience needs something more. I think it would actually be really cool if they brought back the lineup from Godzilla VS Mechagodzilla (AKA Anguirus, Mechagodzilla and maybe even King Caesar, though I would rather see monsters like Gorosaurus, Varan, Manda, Baragon or Titanosaurus over him, honestly.) It was just an idea that came to me on the way to my internship, but I thought that would be pretty cool. Now I don't want to give any predictions here, because we all know that this great news is going to evoke a lot of BS about the next film, and I don't want to be part of that, but I will give my opinion about what I would like to see as of now. What they'll do will probably be badass regardless, but there are still personally favorites that I would like to see in action once more!

Thanks! I came up with it on the spot! Liked my Fire Rodan reference?

I would also like to see Gorosaurus, Manda, Baragon or Titanosaurus. As a kid I was a huge fan of Godzilla and of dinosaurs so I was naturally interested in the dinosaur kaiju alongside Godzilla.

It was a cool reference.

I am curious, why do some people call Rodan "Radon"? I wonder how 'Rodan' came into being. All die hard Godzilla fans know how "Gojira" came into being and what it means.

Prehistoric Kaiju are just so cool!

Thanks! I thought I would at it in, just to tease!

In the American dub of Godzilla VS Mecahgodzilla II, they refer to Rodan as "Radon". Not sure why, I never got it, but it's true. Also, I think there's a rumor that the name itself is based off of the element Radon, which is highly radioactive and causes lung cancer if inhaled.

Thanks for explaining that. I still prefer the nameΒ "Rodan" as it sounds pretty badass. Also in my country, "Roda" means stork. So it makes it a bit ironic for me that Rodan sounds so similar to Roda even the way it is pronounced ro-da and ro-dan and both are big flying creatures who are related thanks to pteradactyls not being too far off from modern birds.

Well, dinosaurs are considered not too far off from modern birds, but pterosaurs not so much. They branched off a much longer while back. Still an interesting connection.

Thanks! Maybe, I don't know. Since they announced her for the sequel, it's possible, but I'm not sure how good I am with moths.

Indeed.

How fast can Mothra and King Ghidorah fly?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

BurningG-HellOnEarth In reply to gerdzerl [2014-07-30 06:15:15 +0000 UTC]

Far slower. I'm think Mothra's down at mach 12 and King Ghidorah would be good at mach 5.

How fast would your Mechagodzilla be, assuming you did a version of him?

BurningG-HellOnEarth In reply to gerdzerl [2014-07-30 19:26:27 +0000 UTC]

If we're assuming a human-made Machagodzilla, very slow. Even assuming we could build one, I have a hard time believing we could make him very fast. Mach 3, tops, maybe 2 even.

I'm no expert at speed, velocity, or the like, and what speed Rodan would LOGICALLY be able to fly at, but honestly, they're Daikaiju, who cares?! He's a badass, and now he's an immeasurably fast badass!

"Let's conquer the skies!"

Indeed.

Personally, I'm all for upgrading Toho's kaiju in terms of how strong they are. If Marvel and DC's superheros and supervillains, and god knows how many anime characters can be ridiculously overpowered, I don't see why Godzilla and his fellow kaiju can't.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

BurningG-HellOnEarth In reply to gerdzerl [2014-08-01 04:25:14 +0000 UTC]

They should, especially since all sorts of ridiculous people claim to give arguments about how characters like Superman and countless anime characters (the Evas only the TOP of the iceberg for that category!) could beat Godzilla and his kin! I don't think you could find ANY fictitious character that could beat or AT LEAST (and I think this category is BS, personally) not have an extremely hard time dealing with him.

While I fully believe that there are plenty of characters who could casually lolwtfstomp Godzilla into oblivion, I do agree that people need to stop downplaying Godzilla like he's some sort of overgrown Goomba or some shit, I mean really. -_-

BurningG-HellOnEarth In reply to gerdzerl [2014-08-18 02:39:32 +0000 UTC]

But that's where I disagree. I have a heard time believing that are next to ANY characters that could really do away with Godzilla, let alone easily.
