Description This is actually a composite piece containing one fractal element that I've stitched together in Photoshop. The interesting thing about using the bipolar or elliptic variations as a final transform is that it lends quite nicely to this sort of thing. Let me know what you think!

The thumb doesn't do this justice. I hope everybody opens this for full view. I love it.

I've learned to always fullview fractal work. There's always so much to be seen!

Me too. I am glad I have a fast connection. Sometimes it's a disapointment to see the full view but mostly it's very rewarding

That's what I was going for. I think it turned out better than I was even expecting.

My mind tried to travel along the vines and ended up getting twisted. This, believe it or not, is a compliment. By the way, your scripts are mind-blowing!

gorgeous, organic style with seamless composition. I do think the purists can miss out on a lot of fun and adventure and true creativity by restricting themselves. Don't ever apologise for pushing the boundaries. Whatever works, and this surely does!

Gorgeous baroque look there. How did you do the stitching? I can't see the join! I'm asking, as I'm thinking of having some designs made up into scarves, and it would be good to be able to repeat a pattern.

CabinTom In reply to contrarymary [2008-03-31 13:30:11 +0000 UTC]

If you take a fractal that is confined like the technica style or these julian ring fractals, and throw on a final transform of bipolar or elliptic then make sure you render the entire fractal (it has straight edges, so these should be visible) it is easily stitched together... maybe I'll do a tutorial on this... yeah that'll be easier! (Plus I'm sure others would like to know for various reasons.)

That tutorial would be really helpful, if you have time. Inspired by the thought of stitching fractals, I had a play with one I did ages ago. I have been toying with the idea of getting some designs printed onto fabric. Now, I can do up to A3 myself, but that's not too exciting. I've found a company who will do digital printing onto silk, and who will also make it up into ties and scarves. Much more interesting. So I played around in Photoshop, copying and pasting, to make a nice border for a design. I will put it in my gallery, I think. So, thanks for the inspiration!

I think it's those same elements that really got me hooked on the idea of doing this while working on it.

Thank you Josette!

Critique: Its a tad dark, Tom. Of course, you love earth tones. So, I'd recommend lowering the gamma just a touch and pushing the brightness up a bit
