Obviously the contrasting tones here really work well. And the texture of the knitting is great, too. But the best part for me is that you cropped it so tightly and we're forced to focus on the action of the hands and wonder about what's next. Is the hat coming off or is he just finishing putting it on? If it's coming off, what's about to happen? If he's putting it on, did he just finish doing something? It's a fun conversation. Nice work!
