Moves
Move 1:   Psychic Fangs
Move Power:
Move Description: With his fangs emitting a bright pink light and his eyes rolling back, Daigo proceeds to bite his target and inject psychic pulses into their body, forcing them to go through a strong amount of mental pain, even after he takes his jaws off them. This attack however has its limits and negatives, such as requiring him to, of course, bite someone, as well as causing him to experience migraines of his own. Furthermore, his teeth can become rather numb after utilization, essentially making it to where he can't feel them for a while.

Psychic Fangs is an egg move inherited from his father, and while he doesn't use it all too often, he at least has a basic understanding of what it can do when he puts it into practice. In all honesty though, this is his weakest move given that it isn't really speed related and thus kind of deemed as something he only would use under special circumstances. He developed this move on accident when he was annoyed with one of his sitters, but was later trained by Daimonji on how to use it at a very basic level.

Move 2:   Aqua Jet
Move Power:
Move Description: Enveloping himself in a rushing torrent of water, Daigo propels himself towards his target at high velocity. While he can easily get from point A to point B with this attack, he has difficulty actually controlling the trajectory, something that can lead him to miss his mark. Furthermore, Daigo is currently only able to move in straight lines or upwards curves, the latter launching him into the air and letting him act as a mortar.

Daigo first developed this attack after his mother saved him with it. He was enamored by how fast she'd been able to move with it. Since then he's practiced the move in secret so as to get his body more accustomed to moving at high velocity, a reason he came up with when he began riding motorcycles. His initial way of practicing involved swimming and increasing his speed in the water.

Move 3:   Agility
Move Power:
Move Description: Quite possibly his favorite move, Daigo increases his movement speed and reaction time, although using Agility too often can overtax his sensory nodes, essentially causing him a fair amount of mental stress in the form of migraines, as well as physical stress all over his body that can leave him drained and fatigued. It should also be noted that the effects of Agility wear off after about a minute following the moves utilization.

A more recent move, but one that Daigo has spent a lot of effort and time into learning for a similar reason as Aqua Jet. The difference between the two however is that Daigo intentionally chose to learn Agility, as it truly lets him push his body to the limit and experience that rush he gets when he's on his motorcycle. Much of his training to learn the move involved agility and speed exercises.

Personality

[+] Lively

Full of life and energy, Daigo is a very outgoing person who expresses himself rather easily. He loves to entertain himself, sometimes even others if the opportunity arises. He believes that life should be lived to the fullest, and is more than open to experiencing new things at least once just so that he can say he’s done it all one day. This love for fun and high-spirited nature plays exceptionally well into his life as a motorcyclist, as he finds himself feeling true bliss when he's racing at high speeds.

[+] Sociable

A social butterfly who enjoys meeting new people, Daigo is often one to start up interactions when he’s confronted with a new face that piques his interests. He loves attending social gatherings, and while his motives may be leaning towards benefiting himself in some way, he truly does find comfort in learning about others and doing things with them in order to forge some kind of bond. Simply put, he’s a socialite that seeks to gain the favor of others so that he might call upon them for help should he need it.

[+] Quick-Witted

Quick to think and respond, Daigo has a rather sharp wit that he abuses constantly throughout day-to-day life. He rarely ever hesitates and is always attempting to give the fastest, most effective responses. He’s very decisive, often knowing exactly what he wants to do and how he’ll do it, and if anything he’ll do his best to think and act simultaneously. He’s clever and perceptive, observing what goes on around him and often giving short explanations of what he’s seen, heard, or experienced.

[+] Confident

Prideful in his abilities, Daigo is a very confident person who always feels self-assured. It's not a front or him attempting to compensate for anything, but in fact him legitimately seeing himself as being one of the best. He won't break down under pressure, nor will he show his own insecurities, as he feels that he’d be showing weakness. He acts in a rather bold manner, showing his bravado so as to either impress or intimidate others, though for the most part he does so in order to leave a lasting, memorable impression on others.

[-] Cocky

While he is rather confident in himself, Daigo is rather...cocky. His own self-pride can often cloud his judgement, causing him to act a bit on the pompous side when talking about his achievements. Does he realize this? Yes, but he's not exactly about to change his ways. He wants to be on top, the very best, the alpha dog that people respect. His cockiness gives birth to arrogance, and if anything it can cause him to act out of envy should he feel that someone is better than him.

[-] Impatient

Daigo is a number of things, but patient? Patient is definitely not something that can be used to describe him. He doesn't enjoy having to wait too long, he absolutely hates when things aren't progressing, and if anything, he can't stand not having something to do. He believes that life is about motion; that if he's not progressing in some way, he's wasting time. If things aren’t moving, he’ll either try to take matters into his own hands and force things along, or he’ll have to be physically forced to not do anything.

[-] Obstinate

If there's one thing that Daigo proves to be time and time again, it's stubborn. Sure it means he can set his mind on something and stay dedicated to it, but this adamant characteristic has many a downside. He doesn't enjoy taking orders from others, thinking that his decisions should be made solely on his own. He’s determined to stick to his guns and is not above arguing with others who try to challenge his justifications and ideals. Once his mind has been set on something, it takes an immense amount of convincing to get him to not follow through with it.

[-] Opportunistic

Daigo is always keeping his eyes open for opportunities, but sadly this can cause him to make decisions that are beneficial solely to him. This can of course bring his loyalty towards others into question. If he's given a choice between self-indulgence or self-sacrifice, nine times out of ten he won’t choose the latter, and even if he decides to choose the latter, he’ll either look for a way for it the benefit him, or he’ll feel bitter about missing a chance at boosting him towards his aspirations.

[/] Ambitious

Dedicated to what he loves as well as to taking the steps he deems necessary to reach his goals, Daigo can sometimes be rather zealous. He’s devoted to getting things done, no matter what it might take, and he rarely ever loses interest in the things that catch his attention unless he finds them to not be worth his efforts in the long run. That said, Daigo is always giving his full, 100 percent, and is very driven towards making his desires more than just fanatical dreams.

[/] Competitive

A lover of challenges, Daigo is always ready to accept any and all forms of competition in order to prove that he's not just all talk. He may wear his ego like a new, expensive leather jacket, but when it comes down to it, he knows that the only way to give truth to his words is to prove them with his actions. Having said that, Daigo can be...well...a sore loser at times. He loves winning and he knows that he can't always win, but that doesn't mean he particularly enjoys, let alone fully tolerates, the feeling of not being on top.

History

tl;dr: “Daigo was born from a fling, his mother lost contact with his father after his birth, she tried to raise him on her own, was convicted for using a move to protect him, he was then taken in by his father, became an underground racer and advocate for the move ban to be lifted, moved to Kalos because moves hadn't been banned yet and to try and promote his father’s business, and then found himself coming to Lumiose in order to join the Argo, as well as to find sponsors.”

Born in the bustling city of Castelia, Daigo was the illegitimate child of Daimonji Kawakami, a fairly successful entrepreneur in the automotive racing industry, as well as the son of one of his father’s occasional flings with an employee, Fujinomi Mizuhara. For Fujinomi, she knew good and well that Daimonji would not take her to be his bride, but would she be able to care for a child on her own? The rest of her family lived in Alola, and the only connections she had were those of her coworkers and friends. What if something were to happen to her before Daigo was old enough to be an independent person? Her worries riddled her mind, but eventually, she formulated a plan, writing a letter to Daimonji begging for him to take care of their child should something happen to her.

Upon learning of Daigo’s existence, Daimonji was somewhat surprised. For one thing, this meant that he technically had an heir to his company should he decide to pass it down to someone related to him by blood, but given the circumstances and how he'd not been present during the child’s birth, the Bruxish questioned if he should get involved at all. True, he could save Fujinomi from potential hardship in the future, but in doing so would he cause this child of his to grow into a spoiled brat? He'd raised this company from the ground up, and the idea of handing it off to someone who didn't know the feeling of struggle didn't sit well with the man. So rather than get involved, Daimonji chose to simply observe Daigo’s growth from a distance.

For Daigo, growing up was, well, a trip to say the least. Once his mother was off of maternity leave, she worked long hours during his first six years of development in order to provide for the two of them, leaving him under the care of hired sitters. He was a hassle to deal with, always on the move and never really slowing down, always acting unruly towards his nannies, and most importantly, always getting himself into some kind of trouble. Eventually, the regular sitters had put up with enough, refusing to look after the boy due to his overall defiance towards authority, thus causing his mother to fret over what she could do to remedy the problem. She couldn't just leave him alone at home. He was nowhere near old enough, let alone responsible enough, for her to deem that as a reasonable solution. So, with the vacation days that she’d been saving, Fujinomi took a leave of absence in order to not only be with her son but to also search for a new sitter...

Skip ahead four years and the situation had worsened. Daigo had gone through dozens of sitters, his mother had lost her job under Daimonji and taken up several other jobs in order to put her son through school. They’d gone from the apartment they were living in to a cheaper one that had a number of problems in terms of the electrical wiring and plumbing. For Daigo, this change of living bothered him heavily, but whenever he brought it up to his mother, she would tell him that things would get better over time. How much time? Daigo hated waiting after all, so never being told the amount of time it would take for things to change just made him want to know more and more. Things needed to always be in motion for him, so eventually the ten-year-old decided that he'd find a way to make things change.

It was during a standard trip to the grocery store that both mother and child were separated. His mother had only looked away for a moment, but in that time Daigo had wandered off in search of ways to make things better for them. His knowledge of how the world really worked was very limited to that of a ten-year-old, but he knew that adults worked jobs in order to make money. If getting a job equaled getting money, and money equaled better living, then that meant all Daigo needed to do was get a job of his own. His first target was, of course, getting a job at the grocery store, but that didn't really go over well when the store clerk brushed him off as a joke. Irritated and impatient, Daigo then moved on to finding work elsewhere, leaving the store and wandering into the street without looking at the traffic lights. For some reason, no one seemed to really be paying attention to what all was going on at the time, so when the loud horn of a moving truck sounded out, followed by Daigo’s mother rushing out of the store and using her Aqua Jet to get him out of the street, chaos broke loose. Cars collided with people watching in shock and horror. When things began to die down, police had already rushed to the scene and gathered eyewitness reports on what had happened. From what they gathered, two people had died and several were injured. Due to the utilization of a move, Fujinomi was placed under arrest with the additional charges of involuntary manslaughter and disorderly conduct.

As preparations and arrangements were made for the trial during the following months, Daigo was taken in by Daimonji, the man choosing to adhere to Fujinomi’s request from ten years ago. Daigo was, well, not exactly thrilled about the idea since he’d never met the man in his life, unaware of their blood relation. That said, Daigo was more focused on learning what would happen to his mother. When would she come back? She’d told him that she'd be gone for a while when the men in uniform took her away, but once again she hadn't given him a specific amount of time. What little patience he had was quickly running thin. There was, however, something that had kept him a bit occupied, and that was the move she’d used to get him out of the street. She'd acted so quickly, and the sight of her rapid movements had been engraved into his mind. Maybe when she came back, she could teach him how to move like that? Oh how he hoped, but that wish was dashed when he was informed by Daimonji that his mother's trial had been put on hold for the next two years. What was he supposed to do in that time???

For those next two years, Daigo found himself living with Daimonji, the latter having gone through the procedures to take custody of the boy, even proving that he was the biological father. This information confused Daigo for the longest time. His dad was his mom’s former boss???? If that was the case, why hadn't they lived together like other families he'd seen? Why was it that when Daigo’s mother had been locked up, this man had chosen to actually appear in his life? So many questions were stirring inside of Daigo’s twelve-year-old mind, and he felt the only person who could give him answers was his mother. Maybe he could ask her after her trial came to pass? Yet when the trial took place, Daigo was once again denied his mother. The verdict had been passed that she was not only guilty, but would be incarcerated for seven years on account of the two deaths she'd caused from her reckless behavior, as well as due to her utilization of a move despite knowing that moves were banned in Unova. For Daigo, this seemed outright unfair. His mother had saved him with that move, and now she was being punished because of it?? How was that fair?? It was at this moment that Daigo found himself despising the laws against move usage, something that Daimonji took interest in for the following years to come.

With his mother incarcerated and Daigo at a loss on what to do, Daimonji gave the boy the idea of working towards bailing her out, albeit through the use of his own funds. But how? Daigo had been told he wasn't old enough to work, and it wasn't as though he had any ideas on how he could raise money fast. That's when Daimonji gave him the opportunity to become a racer for him, setting the requirement that Daigo takes on his surname. Albeit the motivation for the offer was spurred by Daimonji wanting to mold Daigo into a suitable successor for when he stepped down. True, Daigo was underage, but in two years time he could acquire a learner’s permit and ride under the supervision of someone else until he was sixteen. The only kicker was whether or not Daigo would take the deal. The choice was his after all, and due to his impatience, Daigo took it. If it meant he could have the potential of bailing his mother out two years before the release, then what reason did he have to not take it?

As he continued to grow and learn, Daigo became a rather talented racer, taking on amateur competitive races and underground races, the latter behind his father’s back in order to raise money faster, as well as advocating with others for the move ban in Unova to be lifted. He hadn’t lost sight of his goal to bail out his mother, and with the money he’d been able to save up, he accomplished that, but his deal with Daimonji hadn't ended. Daigo had become addicted to the life of racing, and there was no way that he wanted to give it up. Eventually, at the age of twenty he, along with his mother and a designated supervisor, was sent to Kalos in order to spread Daimonji’s company name and bring in potential new racers. For Daigo, this was a chance to give his mother a new start on life outside of Unova, plus moves hadn't been fully banned in Kalos so maybe he could have more freedom there. Thus they moved to Anistar City, and things were going smoothly for a while.

That was of course until the move ban was enacted by the Kalosian government four years after they’d moved. The rulings stated that moves could only be used for professional medical practice or to save someone's life. Daigo was angered by this new ruling, so when he found himself reading an email from a “Mr. Cool,” he was quick to pack his bags and tell his mother that he was heading to Lumiose in order to find sponsors, not wanting her to know that his true motives were.

Cafe

Cafe Affiliation: Cafe Regor
Cafe Proposal: “You think I wanna just give up using the moves that allow me to be a cut above the rest??? I love the rush of moving at high speeds, and being able to do it with my own power is probably one of the best feeling! As if I’d just sit by and let someone say I can't use what I was born with, so hell yeah I want in on the cause!”

Extras

Relationship Status: Single
Zodiac: Pisces

Family:

Daimonji Kawakami | Father | Bruxish | 58
"Can't say I really trust my old man, let alone fully respect him, but I'm in his debt so I guess I've gotta put aside how I've felt ever since he revealed our relation. I'll admit though...wouldn't be here without him, but I just can't shake the feeling that he's got more planned for me than just being one of his racers."

Fujinomi Mizuhara | Mother | Sharpedo | 48
"My mom has had it rough ever since I came into her life, and I'm thankful for how she tried to raise me on her own. Sure I'm always going to be annoyed by her telling me to wait, but at the end of the day she's that one person I'll always be turning to. People can say what hey want about me, but my mother is another story."

Hobbies:
Swimming- This shouldn't be all too surprising seeing as he's a fish, but Daigo heavily enjoys going for a swim when he gets the chance.

Racing- Daigo loves taking his bike out for a spin on his own, but racing others is something that he'll never pass up.

Gaming- A lesser hobby, Daigo does find some enjoyment in playing video games, particularly those that are fast paced or of the racing genre.

Cooking- He's a decent cook and prefers to make food himself rather than wait on others to make it.

Character Notes:
-Rides a custom painted Kawasaki Ninja® 650 KRT Edition, something which he takes very good care of and doesn't exactly show fondness in letting most people touch it without his consent.
-While he does enjoy eating seafood, Daigo's favorite food/snack is actually donuts because they resemble the tires of a motorcycle, plus he has a thing for sweets.
-Should any of his teeth fall out, they will grow back good as new over time.
-Daigo is always on the lookout for potential future sponsors for when he decides to try and go pro.
-His skin is very sleek, having a bit of a shine to it, particularly when wet.
-Speaking of skin, Daigo actually needs to keep himself hydrated in order to maintain that sleek and shiny look.
-Given that his new surname translates to “River God”, it can be assumed that he takes a great deal of pride in it, though he has pondered having it changed back to Mizuhara.
-His first name is written in a way that it translates to "Major", thus making him "River God Major" when he writes it out in Japanese.
-Daigo actually has a fear of needles, something that he refuse to admit to because he feels it makes him sound less cool.
-His hair is rarely ever not in a ponytail, though he does let it free when he’s washing it.
-Loves to go for a swim during darker hours.
-His gills are very sensitive to touch, but he’d prefer if only close peeps tried to feel them.
-The nickname DK is both a reference to his initials when written in English and a nod to his self-proclaimed title, “Drift King”.
-Flirting with him can have mixed results depending on how he’s approached, but for the most part he doesn't mind returning the gesture.
-He considers his zodiac sign to be very fitting seeing as he’s of piscine origin.
-He only ever calls people “Chum” ironically, signifying that he likely isn't too fond of them.
-He makes a number of fish, ocean, maritime, and automobile jokes/puns.
-Don't refer to him as sushi or sashimi unless you want him to respond passive aggressively
-He's a momma's boy, so don't expect him to let you talk bad about his mom without getting aggressive.
-He's still considered a rookie racer as he hasn't debuted in any professional competitions, though he's won a number of amateur races and made somewhat of a name for himself not Castelia.
-[TBA]

Artist Notes:
-Daigo's design is based off of two sharks, one being the shortfin mako shark which is also a nod to his speed aesthetic, the other being black tipped reef shark in the form of how his tail fins are styled.
-Daigo was spawned from a number of Inital D memes, Tokyo Drift jokes, and a number of iconic racing films such as Akira.
-Going off of the U.S. legal system, the base sentence for involuntary manslaughter under federal sentencing guidelines in America is 10-16 months prison time, which actually INCREASES if the crime was committed through an act of reckless conduct that endangered the lives of others. Factoring in that Daigo's mother caused two deaths and endangered others due to her negligence for public safety, as well as her utilization of a move in a region where moves are banned, it seemed rather suitable to bump the sentencing up to six years.
-Please note that Daigo is not famous or well renowned around the world. He's a rookie, a rising contender, someone who has the potential to go pro. He's mostly known in unova, specifically Castelia, though he does have a reputation in the underground racing scene.
