I am wanting to try and make these, but after having looked at your recipe I will need your help in figuring out some substitutions for some of the ingredients. I am lactose intolerant and would need to get rid of all milk and dairy ingredients. Also, I would like to not have to use butter if at all possible. What would your suggestions be...? Thanks

Haha, thanks for all your lovely comments. And yes, I have a partner - he's part of the reason I got so into cooking.

Will definitely have to try this! I wonder how adding tiny bits of apple to the cinnamon paste would taste?

I think that's a fantastic idea. The best way would probably be to cut thin slices and lay them over the filling before slicing. The two halves of the twist do separate a little during baking, so if they were diced or something, the apple bits might fall out.

(Though cinnamon pinwheels are my favourite... they're just so quick to make and so, so good!!)
