Maybe. I don't have a lot of energy these days and single images like this one don't get a lot of reaction.

He actually dons the 1930's fashion regularly, so he knows how to wear it right

Awesome! I'm working on a picture with 18 characters and it's killing me, I am always impressed when people can do lots of characters on one page

CAPTAIN-CAPSLOCK-PHD In reply to dragondoodle [2014-12-27 12:10:55 +0000 UTC]

Do you have them on separate sketch layers? That helped me out a lot.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

dragondoodle In reply to CAPTAIN-CAPSLOCK-PHD [2014-12-27 18:58:40 +0000 UTC]

I sketched them in groups in my sketchbook then added them into the picture in separate layers.  I sketch traditionally so I can actually do art at work It was tricky getting all the characters the right height, I may have messed up a bit

Yeah, she's a bitty mini. We've *kind of* me her already in the comic a few times, or at least seen her influence.
Thank you! It took a long time but I'm happy with the poses.

Then nuts to me. Nice to look at I guess, but whoo boy, if I actually had to dress that way every day, I'd build a time machine just so I could get out of it.

I imagine it wasn't too comfortable, true

VikJones In reply to CAPTAIN-CAPSLOCK-PHD [2014-12-26 10:31:14 +0000 UTC]

Actually, it was quite comfortable. It was airy, the materials were pleasant to skin, hairdos were practical. Both low and high class, leave alone the middle one, wore practical and good looking clothing.

CAPTAIN-CAPSLOCK-PHD In reply to VikJones [2014-12-26 22:40:47 +0000 UTC]

I suppose if it was uncomfortable they wouldn't wear it. The lower class, at least.

What's your favorite historical period for dressing?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

FieldsOfFire In reply to VikJones [2014-12-26 09:41:33 +0000 UTC]

I mostly prefer modern (post-1960s) stuff, to be honest: I personally find casual modern dress more aesthetically pleasing and I think there's more room there for individuality in one's character designs. Also, that way, characters in old-fashioned apparel dress like that because it makes sense for the character, not because they're obligated to by the setting: it makes those characters stand out more and makes the effect stronger. I think I'm in the minority on this though: most people seem to prefer the mid-20th century or earlier.

CAPTAIN-CAPSLOCK-PHD In reply to FieldsOfFire [2014-12-27 17:18:25 +0000 UTC]

I understand that. It's also a lot easier to find a variety of reference material since it's all readily available around you. Just look out the window!

VikJones In reply to FieldsOfFire [2014-12-26 10:29:25 +0000 UTC]

I can't find myself liking any kind of clothing between 40s to 2000s. Especially 70s, 80s and 90s were just a disaster for fashion in my opinion. There definitely was more space for individuality, but for what cost... DX

Heehee, yeah!
All the heights are accurate, btw. Some of them seem pretty extreme but they're still within reality.
Humans are a weird species, huh?

47ness In reply to CAPTAIN-CAPSLOCK-PHD [2014-12-26 00:11:14 +0000 UTC]

I'm all for diversity. (too bad some scumbags use our superficial differences as justification to do bad things)

Canis familiaris is still the weirdest species for me to grasp; just that dogs could yield SO much outward diversity yet all be genetically a single species. Meanwhile a jaguar in Indonesia could have a slightly different hind claw than another jaguar and its declared a brand new species.
