Oh my, beautiful work! I mean it, it's so realistic. The boy is my favorite. He really looks like a photograph that turned into a charcoal option from Photoshop. That's what I thought at first. (By the way, this is EndlessWhispers. I had to make a new name, my computer wouldn't let me get into the other)

Thank you. I had a really clear photo to use as reference (which helps a great deal). Part of the drawing is invented - anything below the log, including one of the boy's hands if I recall. right It's quite slow work building up the shading. Here's a link to the WIP. [link]

i love children as subject matter. i used to draw nothing but my children years ago.
but now they've gotten older and won't even let me take their picture!!! heh.

I get some bad pics and have to work a small miracle to get them right, sometimes. But no complaints, thus far. A really lovely piece you did here.

People expect the miracle though when they give you a small, blurred, badly lit photo. I've managed to say no to commissions on occasions when I think they are asking the impossible. I'm not too keen on doing pet portraits either, I'd rather draw hair than fur

Very true. I've done a few pet portraits and don't mind much (I love the little critters...), but I always enjoy portraits. I can always add that extra sparkle, or suffering behind the eyes to capture a certain mood. Without a doubt, your portrait work is surely a pleasure to view always!
