No barbary lions are left in the wild - they are all in captivity. I got to cuddle this one through the cages. Lovely animal with a lovely temperament and very playful. Evenutally it'll be put out into the general population of this park and become as wild as the others.This is at a park at Paradise Valley Springs, Rotorua, New Zealand

It is - but they're safer now - as they were nearly shot to extinction by the Great White Hunters and poachers. The Barbary Lions are the biggest and most majestic - the manes of hte males are just incredible.
