Description The bright colours at Champagne Pool are caused by trace amounts of arsenic and antimony. These are extracted from the water by sulfur precipitating in the pool. The ridges around the pool are composed of sinter (fine-grained silica). The pool and its margins are teeming with microbial life.

This pool is 62m deep. its surface temperature is 74 degrees C and bubbles due to carbon dioxide. The pool was formed 700 years ago by a hydrothermal eruption. Minerals contained in the water include gold, silver, mercury, sulphur, arsenic, thallium and antimony. They are depositing in the surrounding sinter ledge.

You'll find lots in my gallery - I never used to be interested in landscapes until I came on DA - but now I'm hooked

I love pictures of landscapes and people in other countries!!!! Makes me feel like I'm travelling around the world.
I'm watching Gazza-NZ, and he shows us all the beauty of NZ too!!! I don't know where he is living, but I think it
might be Christchurch. He never told it.
Glad you have lots of landscapes in your gallery too!!!
I often google (Earth) to other countries, like NZ and always wonder where other deviants live!!!
