As long as the mouth chart is properly credited, that's fine. The credits go to me, William Boyer, as well as John Kelly, my own animation instructor who originally drew up a more crude version of this before I redrew his mouths and created this chart for myself to study while animating. Thanks! I'm glad it's of use!

This literaly saved my night. Instead of oogling into the mirror to find the shapes right I found this. Only problem is that I am swedish... and we have strange letters. But this works for that to when I really thought about it, looked at the mouth shape and made some few adjustments. So I gues you're really right. Basic but goooooooood.

Glad you enjoyed! I had to have help from my professor in college to make this for my assignments for the same reasons.

I know that in the case of anime, Phonemes are a bt different; More Concise. I was wondering if you would be able to sow a Phoneme Chart that takes advantage of this. I know it;s not just closed and open, but it's close.

American phoneme charts are more precise but Anime is concise. Concise = poor animation but less time consuming. I have been told that in Japan Anime is pumped out so much faster than American cartoons that they don't even try to sync up the voice acting with the animation of the mouths. Anime just makes the mouth move and have words come out, no tongue shapes or nothing. This is the easy way, the way I wanted when I went to college after years of watching Anime (and a lot of American cartoons still are concise like this I think) but my professor dumped this complicated precise phoneme assignment on us and I made this chart based on what we were taught. Sorry, but winging it is probably your best bet because I will not be making a concise phoneme chart. Like you said, it's almost just closed and open, so I feel it would be pointless to make such a chart. You could easily take my precise phoneme chart and simply dumb it down by using only 2 or 3 mouth shapes of your choice. Let me know how it goes, if you want.
