Description

July 2014
Media: Ink, watercolor, my photography of New Orleans, various collage papers and fabrics, and metallic paint.

Last (EVER) summer studio assignment for AP Studio. Ready for my senior year!!
Assignment- "Emotional colour palette with focus on figure element" I chose a vibrant palette with focus on the figure's hands playing their respective instruments.

Structural Identity Portfolio composition featuring- Dopamine and serotonin. Together, these compounds keep your mind awake and excited upon hearing music.

The triptych is inspired by Jon Batiste and Stay Human's Bonnaroo 2014 performance and the photography I took. The piece features 3/6 members of the tour band. (Left to right) Eddie Barbash,Β Jonathan Batiste,Β and Barry Stephenson. I highly recommend giving them a listen! After all, who wouldn't enjoy a band that recorded an entire album on the New York subway system??

Yep! I go to a magnet school that has visual arts, performing arts, math/science/tech, and a few others. The application process is tough to get in but the school is well worth it and really helps to prepare for college in it's college-level course work.

Congrats on making it to the front page of dA! I had seen this in my deviantwatch messages, but I got a happy surprise scrolling through the front page! Great work! Did you use fabric on the silvery part that's sort of wrinkled in the background?

Oh wow! I didn't know I had made it there o.o And yep! My grandmother gave me a giant bag of fabrics she didn't want anymore for textiles and art this year so I found some metallic fabric in the mix and went to town.

Beautiful drawing! Though as someone who is interested in going into neuroscience studies in the future, I immediately saw two mistakes in your molecular structures: the serotonin should have the hydroxy on the 5 position instead of 4 (therefore the chemical name 5-hydroxytryptamine) and the other molecule you depicted here has one beta-hydroxy extra than dopamine - that makes it norepinephrine instead.

Thanks! I totally goofed on that, didn't I. I'll see if I can correct it a bit on the painting. I may just leave it alone for art school quality and leave it as a lesson for me to pay attention more. Thanks for letting me know! I always appreciate your support.

I've heard norepinephrine plays a role in energy and vigilance so maybe you should leave that as norepinephrine?

Yeah! That still fits in. Thanks!

If you change the two hydrogen attached to the nitrogen on serotonin to two methyl groups while leaving the hydyoxy on the 4 position, it would become psilocin. Music party time! LOL
