Glamour-ed: 17ish southern british guy with an in shape swimmers build, long ginger red hair and golden brown eyes. Around 5'11" 185 lbs

Natural: swimmers build, dusty green skin, long ginger red hair, golden eyes, 17 foot wingspan (usually folded) Digitigrade feet, long pointed tail. wings have a single finger like claw on each "thumb".

Weakness:
The Stone Sleep: At dawn (regardless of whether he is exposed to sunlight or not) Basil turns to stone. In this form he is effectively a stone statue made of granite. While this may at first seem like a boon it is truly the cursed nature of their existence. He will turn to stone mid action (even mid flight) which could possibly put him in a dangerous situation. He can be broken by common hammers with enough force, and any damage he sustains while in stone form is generally permanent. Minor damage such as chips and cracks will heal, but loss of a limb or major appendage is permanent and possibly fatal. Even his glamour cannot stop the stone sleep, he'll just look like an odd statue of a human. While in stone sleep he is only vaguely aware of what's going on around him like a sleeping person would be. Stone sleep ends at nightfall normally, but sometimes can end slightly early and allow him to see the last rays of sunset.
Sink Like a Stone: Even while awake and not victim to the stone sleep gargoyles CANNOT swim. His incredible toughness would allow him to hold his breath much longer than normal, and this does not mean that Basil does not enjoy water, he just has to be careful because while his "awake" form is much lighter than while asleep he is still so dense that he has absolutely no buoyancy.
Vulnerable to the Blessed: Gargoyles were created by a spell from a desperate pious catholic to protect his church from evil. They cannot willingly cause harm to a good or innocent person because of this. It doesn't seem supernaturally enforced, but appears to everyone as a moral code that no gargoyle is willing to break. An innocent is someone who has committed no crime and is generally good, and a good person is someone who goes out of there way to help others even at the cost of there own person.

Major Skills:
Strength of Stone: Basil, like most gargoyles, is incredible strong. While nowhere near as strong as most supernatural creatures he is capable of some incredible feats of strength non the less and can lift approx 500 pounds in a dead lift, carrying about half that aloft.
Enduring Stone: Gargoyles are incredible tough. Even when awake the stone that they are basically born of provides them with both incredible resistance to damage, as well as impressive endurance. While by no means bullet proof they can withstand slashes and bludgeons fairly well, and rarely get tired from normal activities.
Blessings From Above: Gargoyles were originally created to protect churches from evil, there frightful forms supposedly scaring off truly evil creatures. Because of this they have an impressive immunity to "evil" which takes the form as a very specific mind control immunity. As an example:
~ Basil cannot be controlled by a creature of evil origin. This means demons, devils and the like cannot use any form of mind control on him. Morally ambiguous creatures are still fine. If the creature is more powerful than him (teacher, upper class men) he instead sits down in a stupor rather than the spell breaking
~ If Basil was under the charm of such an above mentioned creature and asked to perform and evil act the spell would instantly break. Same rules as above.

Minor Skills:
Winged Flight: Basil is a winged gargoyle and can indeed fly. While no means a speed demon Basil can fly at around 80 mph. From a high altitude dive he can hit around 120 mph, but he is not terrible fond of it (Honestly he's not confident he can come out of the dive soon enough). It's important to remember that Basil does have to flap his wings to fly, so most hallways are too cramped to do so, although since his wings are bat like he can glide at about half his wingspan. (so instead of 17 feet, roughly 9)
Night Vision: Basil can see in darkness as if it was a well lit day. This allows him to fly at night with no problems as well as tell colors in complete darkness. Magical darkness still is an issue.
Stone Mimicry: By holding completely still a gargoyle can appear to be a stone statue. They do not appear to be breathing and appear to be stone to casual inspection. If hurt they still bleed however and this ability does not fool supernatural senses.

History
Like all Gothic gargoyles, Basil's birthday is November 1st. Born in 1990 at the cathedral in Fulham, London, England, Basil erupted from a mischievous cherub looking gargoyle. Like most gargoyles he grew slowly in size, waking at night to be taught by his rookery brothers and sisters in what it means to be a gargoyle. At an early age he showed a fascination with humans and began following around local boys who stayed out after dark, always out of sight but keenly watching. It was during one of these many night forays he happened to stumble near Chelsea Stadium and watched a game of football. He fell in love instantly, and his rook mates would be more annoyed with all the destroyed soccer balls they kept finding on the cathedral roof if they didn't know how much it pained him that he couldn't play. Basil took to hiding outside pubs, pretending to be a statue just to watch games on the tele.
As he got older and became a teenager he became rowdy and a bit of a trouble maker, not unlike human British boys his age. He continued to watch football by spying on pub tele's, but increasingly he felt the gargoyle instinct to protect. One night about 2 years ago after a particularly heated game between Chelsea and Manchester United a young woman was leaving the pub that Basil frequently spied on alone. He would have though nothing of it, if she hadn't let loose a blood curdling scream around the corner. As if on auto pilot he ran on all fours around the corner to see the young woman struggling with a man who had her pinned and seemed to be trying to disrobe the young girl. English pro-piety combined with natural rage at injustice and Basil launched himself at the man, clawing with talons and claws, smacking him off her with his tail. When he came to his senses the young woman had run off and he stood over the barely breathing form of the man he had viciously attacked and almost murdered. Scared of the blood on his hands he quickly flew off to the rookery of the cathedral and locked himself in the steeple for three days refusing to come out. On the fourth, hungry and sheepishy he finally came out, greeted by the abbot of the church, the only human who knew of the gargoyles on the cathedral, and Alastair, the unofficial leader of their rookery. They talked to him about what happened, the abbot letting him know that he had indeed stopped a rape, but the man had later succumbed to his injuries. Basil wept at the realization he had ended a life, and asked the abbot for forgiveness. The abbot and Alastair told basil that he was forgiven, but as penance he must go to an academy they had recently heard of that would help him to learn about and live with humans. He agreed and the abbot made preparations to have a "statue" shipped from his cathedral to an uncharted island....

Personality
Basil is fairly easy going and happy. He tries his best to not think about that dark night and move on. He is an extremely passionate person, never only half doing something. He is also an insufferable smart ass and competitive as all sin, wanting to be the best he can be. While he puts up a tough front he is truly caring and fiercely loyal to friends and kin, as well as doing what he feels is right and damned be the consequences. He loves football, and can often be seen in glamour form laughing with joy as he can now finally play.
