Ascot was not a difficult place for any of Antrium’s racers to get to and it was welcomed. There was no strenuous travel half-way around the world this time and it made the world of difference to a horse like Rebel.

Rebel was many things but she couldn’t exactly be described as patient. She wasn’t a diva by any means but if she were in a bad mood all hell would break loose and Antrium had enough problems being a jockey down due to their current Devil horse Red breaking Ben’s arm. They did not need their new mare, Rebel, to kick up such a sh*te storm, no thank you.

Freya was considered the ‘adrenaline junkie’ of the team but she wasn’t one in reality - could be proven by the fact that she wouldn’t go anywhere near Red; she might love speed and dares but she was physically the weakest and knew she wouldn’t last ten seconds - Freya Just enjoyed a challenge and had a love for life and all its many splendored offerings: such as racing with her own little rebel mare. The Overo was a flashy thing, even with her previous owners and Freya loved the attention her attention-drawing Mount garnered them.

What made this even better was that they had a royal audience.

“Even you’ve never raced for royalty!” Freya exclaimed to Amalie over the phone. “I heard the Duchess is even wagering on Rebel! Get DUNKED!” Freya laughed, which was more a hoot of excitement.

“Don’t get too excited, it might just be a rumour.” Came the steady reply that didn’t portray the eyeroll Freya knew was there.

“Please, you’re just jealous the freaking Queen Of England and her family are watching me racing the most kick ass filly in the Stables.”

“Careful Freya, if you let your head get any bigger you won’t meet the weight limits.” Amalie snarkly replied. Freya scoffed, flicking her hair dramatically with a mock huff of indignation.

“Please, have we forgotten I’m perfect? Thus, I’m the perfect weight, too!”

She even was, the irritatingly correct bitch.

Freya knew everyone back home would be watching how Rebel did on her first day under their colours and Freya was determined to make it a good show, at the very least. She found that she and her new filly seemed to be on the same wavelength, like no horse she’d even been mounted on before. The pair buzzed with ready excitement, a kinship born of a desire to impress and blow away, to be different yet inspiring. Neither fit the mold the world imposed on them and neither could care less about it.

Hastag Girl Power was absolutely going to trend in the future tweets and Facebook posts. The light rain actually looked stunning with the sun rays streaming through the clouds, in a way that, oh-if-only she had been allowed her phone on horseback, this lighting was bloody on point, it would’ve made for a fantastic photo. All the Instagram double taps.

“Time to show the world what you’ve got, my girl,” Freya muttered encouragingly, stroking the filly’s neck before taking a fistful of her mane, “let’s give them a show to remember.”

Rebel, for her part, seemed to nod in reply, forehoof pounding on the grass beneath her feet, snorting loudly just before the gates flew open.
