Description Before you say anything, the title means: "Practice Drawing Misery". This picture was just a practice run of Misery, and it actually came out really nicely. I'm not being critical of myself.

Okay, that being said, I still think Misery is one of the hardest Ruby Gloom characters to draw, but I also think I'm finally mastering the art of drawing her. Go me!
This picture was also being used to practice drawing strange facial expressions, which Misery is INCREDIBLY good at. I'm improving, but still have lessons to learn. I think I overdid the thorns on her staff, though. Oh well, better luck next time.

Like you told me yourself once : "Practice makes perfect." I can tell you that you don't need much practice.

I agree, her different faces must be hard to do.

And I also think you overdid the thorns. But it's no biggie. ^^

Another adage of mine: "There's ALWAYS room for improvement."

Actually, at one point or another, I had the idea of making a series of pictures where I slightly morph an existing adage, adding a twist of Ruby Gloom to it. Examples:

Yeah, I remember those. If you ask me, you should continue this series.

BTW, I've also got my own adage : "Whoever says that he/she never did something bad in his/her life does not earn my trust because he/she just lied". It's long, but I like it. ^^

Catula In reply to Eclipse8 [2009-01-17 17:13:17 +0000 UTC]

Believe me, I'd like to do more of that sort, I just ran out of adages and started getting other ideas that I wanted to do instead.

And yeah, that is a good one you've got there. Similar to "Let he/she who has done no wrong cast the first stone."

Well, you could always ask the others to give you some. I'm pretty sure they'll come up with something. You could even use mine. I wouldn't mind.

Yup, similar. ^^

I can confirm that, To me I consider her the second most difficult, next to Frank and Len which is difficult with skin tone and not being symetrical, and I only drawn Poe once but he was also a challenge to me and Misery's drawing and colouring difficulty.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Catula In reply to MysticM [2009-01-17 03:08:37 +0000 UTC]

My thoughts exactly. Frank & Len are definitely the most difficult, Misery second, Poe third.

Some of the side characters would be pretty hard to draw as well, have you taken a look at Edgar's coat? Complicated pattern! Oh, and Skele T is a tough one, too.

YEAH~YEAH~YEAH COMMON DIGGIT!

Another difficult thing will be drawing characters rarely seen, such as the civilians of Townsville.

Catula In reply to MysticM [2009-01-17 17:10:29 +0000 UTC]

Indeed. One of them reminded me of Two-Face, as memory serves.

MysticM In reply to Catula [2009-01-18 06:24:32 +0000 UTC]

One looks normal, a lady like some sort of teacher/librarian Hybrid with simular fashion sense as Misery, another little girl with eyes simular to Misery...

Catula In reply to MysticM [2009-01-18 20:39:34 +0000 UTC]

There was also a strange looking man or two, as I recall.

I remember a girl whos probably close to TwoFace, and the normal guy I refer to sold Poe a bathmat.

she seemed friendly, which reminded me, though that they probably hardly have any speaking lines, noticed they usually act with a scowl or such? Only time they are seen all hapyis during Cheese day.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Catula In reply to MysticM [2009-01-19 18:30:40 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, most often they had a scowl of sorts, though that may just be the natural disposition of their faces. Who knows, it's Gloomsville...

MysticM In reply to Catula [2009-01-19 18:49:32 +0000 UTC]

True... I guess the reason why Ruby and friends are... "Semi-gothic" is because they live just outside Gloomsville.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Catula In reply to MysticM [2009-01-19 21:03:59 +0000 UTC]

And because it suits them to look that way.

Could be worst, Im pretty sure I classify as "Emo" due to sensetivity... but I don't totally where black and cry about it.

Catula In reply to MysticM [2009-01-21 05:30:57 +0000 UTC]

I always thought 'Emo' referred to one's over-emotionalism about everything, especially to oneself. Most emos are considered whiny.

I think my actual classification is "Geek Goth" or something like that. True blue geek, with a taste for gothic stuff.

I'm sure you'll get better at it with practice.
