As a hobbit fan to another-
I bought BOTFA a few days ago, and...I can't bring myself to watch it ._. What do you think I should do? Should I just suck it up or do what I did to Hunger Games and never watch it again?

Since you've bought it already, I'd say watch it.
However if you've watched the first two and you didn't like them and you regretted watching them, then skipping it makes sense. Or you've already watch the third in theatres and regret it.Β
Personally I've found I enjoy adaptations of things a lot better simply by decentralizing the canon/first media. Rather then putting the books in this case in the centre and judging every adaptation against them, I put them all in circle around Tolkien's story (rather then the media he used to tell it). I don't know if that necessary makes sense when I put it in words.... But I've found unless I'm making a comparison between one of the books and it's adaptation for fun or academic reasons, comparing them doesn't really serve to benefit me in any way.
I find myself going "this part was good but I didn't like how they did this part, or left out this part or added this part" and holding it against the adaptation while forgetting that I have the very same thoughts about the books themselves. :/Β
It's hard to be mad that they didn't put X in the movie because it was in the book when I happy they didn't put in Y in the movie just because it's in the book. The reality is I'm mad they didn't put X in because I liked X, rather then because it's canon and I want an exact duplicate of the book in movie form.Β
While I read the books first, in between reading them and watching the most recent Hobbit movies, I also saw the animated movies, read the graphic novel, saw the play, saw the live action Lord of the Rings movies, etc. If I was letting the adaptation 'not being the book or as good' stop me from enjoying them I'd be in trouble.Β
Short answer; Just pretend it's fanfiction and you're good to go. Β
