>83 Ill be posting some shading tutorials someday (if i ever get my workload down, and get the time) on Soft CG and Cell shading :3

BattleJesus In reply to Cayotica [2009-11-19 04:54:20 +0000 UTC]

well, I pretty much have my hair shading process down. It's the basic style that I need to refine, and if I can figure out that, and mix it with this, it could turn greatness into beauty

XD It never hurts to experiment. I slightly color different almost every picture that I draw :3

and you think i dont?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Cayotica In reply to BattleJesus [2009-11-19 05:05:16 +0000 UTC]

no, but you don't really do anything really drastic XD I've been trying to do some drastic coloring changes, but i cant think of anything that would have the most impact :/

BattleJesus In reply to Cayotica [2009-11-19 05:45:44 +0000 UTC]

Drastic changes aren't always good
I prefer changing bits and pieces. Drastic changes in art style are like Changing a recipe for seasoning by adding 27 different things and taking 5 out
You can't tell what made it better or what made it worse because there's too much fluctuation going on

Cayotica In reply to BattleJesus [2009-11-19 07:15:01 +0000 UTC]

lol, I never meant a permanent change XD I was speaking as in like, one picture here, one picture there. Depending on the drastic change, i don't think it hurts at all, at least for experiments sake. After all, if you go from say, Realism to manga style, or vice versa, there are things to be learned from either one that could potentially change the way that you do the other. Same with the technique, as opposed to the style. Alot of different techniques can drastically change the style of your art. For better or for worse to be sure, but that's why if something isn't working, learn the 'WHY' of it not working, and you can alter what your doing to reflect the understanding. I'm not saying that you should change, not at all, just that the occasional change is nice, and puts new perspectives on things

β€œThe true worth of an experimenter consists in his pursuing not only what he seeks in his experiment, but also what he did not seek.” ~Claude Bernard

This is a great tutorial but looking back at your other works I've noticed the hair shine doesn't come out in the result you did in this tutorial. The others are smoothed out to have it mix in but yet give it that nice shine to it.

This will be very helpful in the future. 8D

Cayotica In reply to Daemon668 [2009-11-19 04:58:05 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, This is just the base of what I did on the other ones. The same steps, just taken and tweaked differently since its a tutorial and i don't have the space to show much more haha I actually shade and highlight differently on almost every picture i color (except my quick drawings, but even they have variations) XD I can never just pick one way to do something, I'm always tweaking and experimenting. But its the same concept just subtle differences. One of the main differences is actually that i use Paint tool SAI instead of Photoshop for coloring, and the tools and layer properties are a bit different than in PS, so it gives it a bit of a variable in that sense too. (see, look now you got me rambling XD )
