i suck at everything that has to do with colouring. colouring digitally is my only chance to make some art worth looking at... and even digital colouring i can't do very well. this tutorial will be very useful for me! thank you so much!

Oo. thanks a bunch. Ive been inking my pieces and that usually ends up in a too cartoonish for my liking style. Do you shade the entire red part before you add in the other parts? Thanks. Love the tutorial. :}

CBSorgeArtworks In reply to toxicneon [2006-06-26 20:20:54 +0000 UTC]

No prob I think I did all the red stuff before the rest, but here it wouldn't matter much, since all the parts were layered. I paint in pieces, doing spines at one point then finishing the red part then doing teeth, stuff like that. Not alot of method there.

Im working on [link] with your tutorial. So far Im liking it. Working on the teeth though, thats why they look gfiejgfi. And the eyes arent started yet. Thank you so much :>

Wow...it looks so...complicated! Thanks for the tutorial, though. I'm still learning how to use Photoshop, even though I have NO clue what I'm doing...though I have a question: How much does a tablet cost? I'd love to get it, but...I'm pretty much broke. TT-TT

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

CBSorgeArtworks In reply to Erzeugen [2006-06-26 01:20:05 +0000 UTC]

It sure sounds complicated, but it's very straightforward after some practice (Don't feel bad, when I first got photoshop I was completely daunted by how little I knew XD). Tablets are wonderful. Mine was under $100 for a little 4x5, but the bigger models are x2 or x3 more (my small one works fine tho ).

YAY X) thank you. I've been wondering how you make your paintings so awsm.

the way I paint is way too messy haha I just smoosh color around til something happens XP Sure it's fun and um. pretty(?) but it always comes out kinda funny D: I also use way too many colors D:

Very nice A few questions though:

1.)The whole basic unit of painting part is all done with paint brushes and no smudging, right?
2.)Do you always work at 50% of your large image, or did you zoom out just to show us what you did?
3.)On average, how long did the Bach picture actually take?
4.)About how long did the basic red body take to paint?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

CBSorgeArtworks In reply to LightningRyu [2006-06-25 03:14:43 +0000 UTC]

1.) Yes, no smudging. Smuding can be helpful for small details, texture, and some other things, but I don't use it for the main painting part. I've tried, it's finicky, not nearly as useful as it was made out to be.
2.)I usually work at like 66% or something. Not full scale but occasionally zooming in to detail (should do that more...)
3.) Hrm, not sure exactly, but Bach took 5-6 hours maybe, if not more. I've been averaging around that lately.
4.)The red body didn't take too long, maybe two hours or less.
