This is actually really, really cool- this is definitely a design I wouldn't mind hanging on my wall, haha. The juxtaposition of text and the background, as well as the typeface, and even the angle of the words and the composition are just... genius. I can't get enough of this pic

I like it when people include typography to tradtional arts, especially oils. I'd actually like to see that done more often, come to think of it.
Anyways, I like how you dealt with it here, the text striking and demands your attention, but doesn't distract from the complete piece IMO. Gongrats on the DD, too.

I totally agree with you on making text work in a painting, so many times it can look trite or crafty...essentially stupid lol.
I need to get a better shot of this one, looks a whole heck of a lot nicer in person. thanks for the insightful commentary, I love that people are thinking it is a water mark, good way to get people lathered up lol.

Ah if there is one thing I suck at more than most everything else its photographing artwork. I wont be any help there. But I know what you mean. I dont put any of my paintings online cause they look like crap when I photograph them. Doesnt hurt that they look like crap normally, but ya. The colors always arent right for me at least. Water marks are lame. Glad to see you didnt add one.

Haha crazy to see it get a DD eh? Unexpected on my part for sure. Nice to see a painting get a DD rather than something digital, feels like a personal milestone in a way.
Hope your summer is going well hun, I really like what you have been creating. I have been picking up some great Mac tips hanging around with Joel (the mac god lol) as we are working on a project together. Great for me, mac n00b that I am.

at first i thought it was done on the computer but im glad its not. its good to see typography in paintings. looks great.

Thanks very much! I did use the computer to distort the text in Photoshop...I have gotten very interested in the computer as a tool in paintings, not using it alone as I have in years past. There is a lot of satisfaction in doing stuff in a rigorous, traditional way (ie oil paint) for me, and I have a great affintity for the ligatures and movement of the structures of text, with practice hopefull I will get better at it.

Very transculent feel to it, the landscape is very beautiful in its washed-out pastelly feel and the word stretched across the forefront is quite effective as well.......
