Beautiful! Is this based off of that wonderful white and silver Gown from LotR?

Thank you I don't know what gown exactly you mean but it is based on one that I think didn't get into the film or isn't seen there recognisably.

Yes! The outside Robes are white and the under gown is silver and it has a high collar. Is featured over at Alleycatscratch.com and they arent sure if it was for a male or female.

It's one of my faves! Great job, your's looks just fantastic.

Yeah, exactly that one! I love it and waited very long to make it (it had to be the best cloth!)
Thank you very much again

Wonderful, I eyed that one but thought It wouldn't look good for my character's style. I'm glad I didn't because it would have paled in comparison to what you did!

I still might!
But I've fall in love with the babydoll look of gowns like Arwen's Rose colored gown and the Orange gown seen on the red-headed Elf lady in Rivendell when the Fellowship leaves Rivendell.

The babydoll silhouette has always been flattering to me and it seems to fit with my character (who is quite young he majority of my stories).

I love the way you did this gown though, the fabric selection is perfect!

This kind of dress you mean is called "Bliaud" (spelled ble-Γ“ and is a medieval cut. I like it very much too and I sew some of them yet and I can say they are not complicated. They are real great fun to wear! Especially with satin sleeves.

I bought this fabric surely more than one year before sewing and just knew, the gown for it had to be REALLY great and no design came to my mind and fitted well enough. I had so much fear to cut it wrong! The same was with the design of this LotR gown. It needed a great fabric. And after months of thinking and debating with myself I did it and it was good. It is so wunderfully heavy! And because it is an old fabric and used it has this wunderful elvish flair.
I had to tell quite a lot of people on the last Larp con that they were standing on my sleeve, that was the best^^

That's wonderful! The style I want is more of a Kirtle style, but with the tell tale seam up a the bust to give that "baby-doll" silhouette.

Biliaud's are impressive but mostly I tend to see the style with the sleeves hem cut into different patterns. It's looks very cool but was never something i'm interested in. Until Lord of the Rings of Course, and your gown just makes me want to make one now because it's so impressive!

Ever since LotR I went from only fancing tighter sleeves to wanting the SUPER long ones like you had.

"Get off my sleeve!" that's hilarious!

This fabric must have spoken to you, it just all came together so perfectly!

I'm working on some "Steampunk" things at the moment but I'm planning out my first Elven gown.
Not sure which one, but I'll let you know when it's done!

I wished you could try one bliaud, thereafter you MUST have one *g* The long sleeves are a great feeling and it does not get cold on the hands Except these long sleeves I too like tight sleeves but for Elvish gowns I somehow stick to the vast ones. But I hope in some time to make the designs with tight sleeves (but not only). Tight ones are much more complicated to sew because it could get too tight.

Yes, please tell me! Your Belle of the Seven Seas tells me that it sounds promising, I am looking forward

Aww thank you ::Blush:: Anabella (the pirate character) was mostly styled by me, not much sewing involved-mostly because I'm a Bellydancer and had most everything I needed in stock!

But I will try and make one gown a Bliaud because it sounds so wonderful the way you describe how it feels.

I'm concentrating on characters that wear less clothing right now because I live in Miami Florida and its late spring and its HOT!

But maybe I will plan one for the tiny bit of time that it get's chilly enough to wear so much fabric!

I promise to post more updates soon, Working on Katara from Avatar, a bag comission and a Steampunk Bellydancer.
After that I will go back to my Lord of the Rings characters outfits.

You rock by the way! Thanks for adding me as a friend.

Hehe, the better

If you make a bliaud, I suggest you satin sleeves, they are most wunderful And for not so warm clothes you can take thin cotton or linen. At 30Β°C I have no great problem in my two-part cotton medieval dress to go to a fair.

Thank you too
I'll wait for your works.
