Description To Celebrate the release of Skyward Sword and 25 years of Legend of Zelda games, I bring to you my Zelda-a-Day art project for the month of November (so basically, 30 days of Zelda goondness).

Day 30 - Our Hero's Goodbye

"When peace returns to Hyrule...
It will be time for us to say
good-bye..." - Princess Zelda

A bit about this piece:

So, here's the final day guys...;w; I can't believe how fast this month has gone.

These entire 30 days has been quite the adventure, both literally and metaphorically. I am so thankful to all of you who have supported me this month. I have learned and improved so much and have even made a handful of new friends.

Honestly, I can never seem to express myself enough for how grateful I am to all of you for sticking by me, whether you were there from the start, came in late, faved, faved and commented, or just even took the time to look...All of you have made this thing worth while.

Alas, much like the iconic parting of Link and Zelda in Ocarina of Time, we too must part ways...at least for now. :3 I will continue to draw (though, not post as frequently. XD) and improve my work as I have been since the beginning.

I had been suffering from a massive blow to my self-esteem with my art for the past two years. I never imagined that tackling a project like this, which to me, just seemed like a fun idea at the time, would re-kindle the pride and the joy I used to feel with my art again. Sure, I will still have the days when I feel as though I have produced crap...we all have those moments...XD But for once...it is nice to feel truly happy with my work without the impending sensation of defeat and dread.

So again, I thank you all and the Legend of Zelda series for inspiring me once again. I've been struggling in my own darkness for so long...

Until the next time I post, I hope you all do take care. :3 I wish the best for all of you, and to those who struggle just as I have, I hope that you too will find a way to break out of that nasty state of mind and truly embrace your art for what it is...beautiful. No matter the style or skill level, remember that your art is your own. It's very easy to lose sight of that, so never let that feeling go.

Maybe I should start drawing more... so I can get better and boost my self-esteem like you!
And when I saw that scene ingame... I nearly cried. The end credits music almost makes me cry to this day...

OMG! D: Same here. ;w; I replayed it recently and I was just all....HNNNG!!! THE EMOTION! D:

I'm such a sap.

It is a proven fact that the more you draw, the more you improve. :3 I definitely would suggest it for a confident boost for sure!

YES. The ending of Kingdom Hearts 2 actually DID make me cry a little...
And yeah, I think I will. People are usually praising it for the most part.
Like this one. Drawn on paper, scanned and colored and given a background in Photoshop. [link]

Thank you! I've actually got a ton more art to show off that I haven't scanned yet. Also, I think part of the reason I don't like doing it is because IMO the drawings usually look better on paper... Tailsko is like, an exception.

OH MY GOODNESS. OH YES. OH YES. YESYEYSYES!!

Is this it!? Does this have to end now!? It's all so surreal.
30 Days of wonderful, passionate art and to end it all of with this gorgeous piece just seems so darn perfect.

Man, you have really inspired me. I'm so happy to have someone as talented as you help work on my little project! Thank you so much.

The feeling this piece gives off just makes me all warm and fuzzy inside! It such a bitter-sweet emotion and I love it to bits.

Thank you so much, Ochi! ;w;

And yeah...it's over now. But there will be more art in the future, I promise. :3

I'm really looking forward to working on that project with you, really! It sounds like a lot of fun and I will certainly try to do my best! ^__^ Again, I'm all for the idea and think that it would be a brilliant adaptation. :3 I am so honoured to be asked to work with a wonderful artist such as yourself! ^^

And I'm a bit of a sucker for bitter-sweet endings as well sometimes. XD But yeah, I thought this scene would be the perfect ending to this wonderful project. :3 Thank you so much for being a part of it!

Also, before I forget, a very happy birthday to you too! I hope you have a good one! ^_^

Ah-- Your flattery is too much! It's all so surreal to have someone as amazing as you on the team! Recently, I've been thinking on what else you could do besides animals;; A talent like that shouldn't be confined in only one area!

Who /isn't/ a sucker for bitter-sweetness. You're going to love SS.

And thank you for the Birthday wishes oUo!!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

CelticMagician In reply to ochibrochi [2011-12-03 15:58:01 +0000 UTC]

I'll take on most anything if that helps....:3 Though...backgrounds of man-made things might be a problem. @.@ I struggle with perspective big time, so that wouldn't be a good option for me to do. I am really good at forested or natural landscapes, however. :3 Mostly because I can cheat the system a bit. XD

And I have a friend...who says he's buying Skyward Sword...and playing it when he comes to visit so that I can see it! He's bringing TP too the sweetie...;w; lol Then again, I also promised him that I wouldn't play the final bit of Majora's mask until he got here either, so I guess it's a fair trade-off. XD

And you are very welcome for the Birthday wishes!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

ochibrochi In reply to CelticMagician [2011-12-04 05:49:32 +0000 UTC]

Don't worry; I'm not the best with perspective either. Practice, practice, practice!
Forested landscapes? That's great! Mine always end up looking too soft.

Aww-- Your friend's such a doll-face. Pretty fair trade indeed. When he starts playing, make sure to be prepared for the candy for your eyes will make your brain shrivel-up in pure delight.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

CelticMagician In reply to ochibrochi [2011-12-04 17:03:11 +0000 UTC]

Indeed! I've been practicing, but I'm still not the best with it. I doubt I'll ever perfect it, but if I can get it close enough that it looks right, I will be happy. :3

And yeah...XD I'm a sucker for drawing natural scenery. :3 Especially trees. I really like doing the detail in the bark, you see...XD It's really fun! lol

And brain-shriveling eye candy is the best! 8D Now I'm REALLY looking forward to it! XD

It'll be the first time I see my friend after several months too. :3 We plan on rocking out during his two-week Christmas vacation as much as we can before he heads back to class. XD; I'm also excited because another friend of mine will be coming home from her six-month trip to England around the same time too! I miss them so much. ;w;

Tealer [2011-11-30 19:58:15 +0000 UTC]

First of all, congrats on finishing this! I hope you still continue to draw often though, talent is not to be wasted. You've been really diverse with all of these, you have formed a wonderful, colorful gallery. It's really great.

This is a really good idea, drawing this moment, and I haven't seen anyone else do it.
You chose the perfect color for the background, I noticed it matches the certain feel of the game's palette, though not sure if that makes much sense. XD

The sketch style of yours I still see you've kept, which is really great. It gives it texture, and it's interesting to full-view. I don't know how you captured emotion in their eyes, it's so hard for me to do that. Especially zelda's since hers are close to being closed.

Ahh this ending was awesome, your drawing actually made me just want to replay the game sometime soon, I haven't seen the ending TOO many times lol.
Something else I like about your art is that you were able to capture an essence of the zelda-style, but it's still your own. Hooray for their pointy noses.
And finally, I really like how you made them not looking at each other, from what I can tell. Eye contact is overrated

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

CelticMagician In reply to Tealer [2011-11-30 20:57:41 +0000 UTC]

XD I dunno...I don't think the characters would look right without the big pointy noses. I always find it important to try and keep a likeness to the characters, especially if their designs are already appealing enough.

Thank you so much! I do plan to keep drawing as often as I can...:3 Though, I think I may take a small break for a coupel of days. I have some writing I need to do anyhow (namely the Pokemon fanfic I started and neglected this whole month). Christmas is coming up to, so I will be doing art-related things in one form or another anyway. :3

And I'm happy to hear that I've caught the emotion properly! I just really concentrated on how I feel at that part of the game and how I reprieve Zelda to feel at the same time. I was hoping it would translate into my art.

As for the eye contact, I dunno...:/ I was always under the impression that Link looks at Zelda for a good while longer at this point before she finally looks up at him and explains that she must send him back to his own time. XD; So that's what I depicted here. I thought it was fitting enough. :3

As for the colour pallete thing, yes that does make sense and it was definitely done on purpose. I did quite a bit of tweaking with the colour to make it look right. :3

God this ending...;w; I get so emotional with it every time I play. Then again, I'm like that with pretty well all the Zelda games I've played. Link's Awakening's ending makes me cry every time, however. XD I am such a sap. I think I'm gonna get wibbly with Majora's Mask too once I finish it...I keep tearing up during the sad moments of the game, so the ending's probably gonna hit me pretty hard as well. XD;

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Tealer In reply to CelticMagician [2011-11-30 21:06:39 +0000 UTC]

I agree. I dislike it when there's a classic 'imperfection' in a character's looks, and a fanartist changes it to make them look like every other 'beautiful' clone.

Lol oh yeah a couple of days isn't long at all. I thought you were going to take a long break. My break bewteen pieces is like... months? -.- But I'm glad, you're welcome

That's cool. I think I remember that, the scene/eye thing. Twas a good choice then. Lol I've never beaten link's awakening. Maybe I should. XD Majora's mask is definitely an emotional game haha. Good luck. Have you ever played through to the ending of it before?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

CelticMagician In reply to Tealer [2011-11-30 21:14:17 +0000 UTC]

No...;w; But I've been spoiled enough to know what happens...XD

This will be my first time playing it all the way through. :3 I wanted to do so, just so I can say that I have beaten it.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Tealer In reply to CelticMagician [2011-11-30 21:26:45 +0000 UTC]

Ah yeah, I actually watched my brother beat it long ago. I've never beaten it myself, just got near the ending. It's definitely something you want to play through yourself though (still need to lol)

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

CelticMagician In reply to Tealer [2011-11-30 21:35:22 +0000 UTC]

XD Yeah...I tried neumerous times before...But...that time limit! ;w; I just couldn't do it. XD;

This will probably be the only Zelda game that I will rely on a walkthrough for, but it helps me cope with the anxiety brought on by the three day limit as much as it aggravates me. ;w; lol I like learning things on my own, but I just feel as though I don't have enough time.

It really didn't help during one of my first passes when my time expired and the moon crashed. XD; It was a horrid experience for me. I never wanted it to happen again. ;w;

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Tealer In reply to CelticMagician [2011-11-30 22:22:16 +0000 UTC]

LOL. sorry... ya know I never even watched the moon fall. First played it when I was 8 and couldn't figure out what to do. So, on that last day when I ran out of time (this happened several times) I quickly reset the system lol... I'm sure many ppl had this experience.

Like you said, anxiety is the best way to put it. Hopefully you're using the reverse song of time, it would be much more frightening without it. XD I hate using a walkthrough as well... but yeah.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

CelticMagician In reply to Tealer [2011-11-30 22:43:14 +0000 UTC]

Oh yes, I am DEFINITELY using the inverted song of time. I think I would flip tables if I didn't, even with the walkthrough. XD When I first started the game though, I didn't know about the inverted song of time, so I was pretty much like this through the whole thing: It was so frustrating...XD I couldn't figure anything out!

LOL! XD After the moon fell for me that one time, if I was about to run out, I would reset the system 'cause I just didn't want to see it again. ;w; Creepy moon...You're awesome but why are you so creepy!?

Tealer In reply to CelticMagician [2011-11-30 22:47:37 +0000 UTC]

And never give up on drawing, don't let people's opinions ruin how much you love what you do, to me it seems you're a great artist, and I mean that honestly.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

CelticMagician In reply to ReveilleStudios [2011-11-30 05:40:02 +0000 UTC]

Thank you so much!

I'm not one to give up on drawing (though, I admit, there were a few times where I considered it), but what happened with me was that I struggled through an animation program with professors constantly telling me that I "wasn't good enough," or "not trying" when I was working myself to exhaustion. It was a lengthy period of time hearing such feedback that I had a harder and harder time dismissing it each time things like that were said to me.

After I ended up failing animation and transferring to Professional Writing, my opinion of my own work had suffered greatly and I was trying to fix what I can so that I could be happy with it like I was. ;w; It was a long journey, but it was definitely worth it.

Thank you so much again. Really, I do appreciate it.
