I slightly did not see this coming, but I was in utter denial because I could NOT bear the idea of Twilight becoming an alicorn. BUT shit happens. I found out about this around noon before class and knew I had to draw her with wings somehow and this was the answer. Her dress is not accurate though as there aren't many sufficient concepts of it just yet. If you'd like to know more about this then just look at this page [link]I am sort of excited for this, but at the same time I think it's just too much. But I can't say just yet so let me know what you think. I'd like to hear your thoughts.

To this day, I still don't understand what's wrong about giving Twilight a pair of wings.

I got very excited when I saw Twilight with wings. It's cool that she can now fly, and I like their brand new shape. (Rainbow's reaction and line is heart-warming.) I think she deserves it and that it makes sense that it happens. I'm just not too comfortable with her height change. I'd prefer if she was exactly the same except for the wings.
I'm feeling the "End of Twilight's body as we know it" blues, but I'm also absolutely pleased with that beautiful episode. And am hoping that she's not an alicorn ALL the time, and if she is, that I can watch the new episodes without finding it weird. Not to mention the old episodes. She's still herself there, but when I make a season marathon, knowing what's about to happen to her, will I think about it as I watch it, or will that part of my brain/memories be asleep most of the time?

Not very likely. She was already her full size, and Shining Armor is male, so he's larger by nature.

Well, kind of. The mayor, for example, who is old, is the same size as the Mane6. Fleur-de-lis is an exception, which proves the size of a pony is not an exact science.

ya i think alicorn can grow more. but also live longer. so if twilght was as big as she was able to at a uniorn. but now she is a younger and smaller alicorn

I don't know if she'll live longer now that she's an alicorn. Neither do I know whether Cadance lives longer than a normal pony or not. My guess is that only Celestia and Luna are the longer-living/immortal ponies around. But Season 4 may shed some light into that and clarify some things.

so why don't we ever see pegasus preening in the show. the only thing i can guess is the show staff understand more of the fanon than we think thay do

I agree for the most part that Twilight certainly deserved to be among the greats of Equestria. I was more confused if anything, but excited all at once. The episode went wonderfully and must have put a lot of haters in their place. People just can't accept change. And honestly, I didn't notice Twilight's height difference.
All that's left to wonder is how season 4 will play out and like you said, her alicorn characteristics would be temporary, but as we see it now it's very unlikely. I'm interested to see how she will confront things now with her new abilities. All we can do is wait.

Yeah, I didn't notice Twilight's height either, until Cereal from EQD mentioned it. Her head looks smaller too.
We'll have to wait and see how her screen-time will be now. Will her trot still look cute? Will the poses she makes when being her awkward self still look hilarious? I wonder how she'll look when she claps her hooves and stuff. Can you imagine her talking to an enormous crowd, as she usually does, but doing it while flying, like Rainbow does?

I'm not sure what to think will just have to wait and see what happens. its obvious there taking the story in a new direction besides the " just for little girls" stick as much buzz as the show gets

Still not a fan of this idea... I don't like the idea of Twilight gaining such importance when there are AT LEAST 5 other characters who deserve just as much importance in the overall scheme of things.

...I don't understand this logic. So Twilight's moving up on her studies, taking a major step towards transcending the title of apprentice to becoming her master's peer (the route of every apprentice), and this means her friend's are unimportant... how?
I mean, what's this about unimportance? The six of them made Twilight what she is, they are the most important ponies and dragon in Equestria! And just because she's now got a pair of wings doesn't mean she doesn't have a lot more to learn from them.

This show really hasn't been the same since the start of the season. It still has a lot of viewers though and maybe season 4 will change things up a bit for the better.

Good point. I was uncomfortable with the thought of reforming discord and it all happened under one episode with too much ease. Now that was a disappointing episode I might just remove from my DVR as something I don't really wanna see again. :/
And the alicorns thing has always been a mystery as I never really thought too much about it before. But that's true it does turn around the concept of alicorn origins since Twilight is earning the title instead.

yeah..but then there is this thing : Cadence is seen younger in flashback with twilgith, but tht was just short, so it can aso be that made alicorns don't live that long? or they just grow quick to maturity...

Well they age just like any other pony as seen with Cadence. But both Luna and Celestia have lived for thousands of years and where Cadence came from is just as mysterious as the alicorn concept. *shrugs*
