Description Hey! Happy Easter

This photo was taken yesterday (Good Friday, March 29 2013). It's me in my national and (almost) regional costume: the "krakowski" Polish national costume. Krakow (know to you English speakers as "Cracow") was the 2nd capital of Poland and is a very culturally rich city and a UN heritage site in Poland. I'm from near there - the city of Tarnow (the only difference in the costumes is that girls from Tarnow wear ribbons on both shoulders).

There's a Good Friday/Holy Saturday tradition Polish Catholics have: various clubs and groups associated with a parish stand guard by Jesus' grave from Friday night to Saturday morning. I am a member of the Polish dance group Cracovia (its a group from London, ON), and our shift was last night

Since this is my DA page for anything Poland related, I decided to put this photo up here.

Hope you like it

Happy Easter full of faith, hope, love, joy and blessings from the Risen Lord

You're welcome XD I swear, I'm so jealous of Europeans... YOu guys have such interesting traditional dress, and then there's us boring Americans

Thanks

Well, I live in Canada, but I agree with you 100% . . . If I lived in Poland or France or anywhere in Europe I probably wouldn't be so bored of them that I would feel the constant need to stick beads, gears, flowers or lace to them . . . Its because our clothes in North America are mass produced . . . More original clothes cost a small fortune . . .

I love traditional dress: Its like wearing history

I officially love you XD

It's a major dream of mine to move to Europe someday, because I just... Even though I've never even been out of the US, I just plain like European culture better. Plus, they just have so much history that you just don't see here. I don't know what it;s like in Canada, but I know here in Los Angeles, you don't ever see buildings older than about the mid 1920's. There's just something about walking down a street that Maria Theresa may have walked down, or visiting a castle that Queen Elizabeth I lived in, that just fascinates me.

Sorry for the late reply! I have tried to reply to this comment so many times, but I had been feeling under the weather and could only write incoherently . . .

I hope you do get to move to Europe Or at least visit

I don't know about "better," all cultures have their good sides, but we do have more history

Canada is awesome, you should check it out too, but it doesn't have much history either, although Aboriginal culture is still somewhat present and luckily on the rise.

I know, there is You feel like a princess yourself
