very nice work man. i think that unluckily your neck bulging veins did not work unluckily.

BUT i think it's just fine without it. the expression on his face says it all. even without neck bulging

also the spooky guy fading into the shadows was very well done. he does make the brain wonder about it. it's always better to hint at the monsters, not just show them in perfect lighting.

Thanks man.

OH! I just submitted art to Wizards of the Coast (finally have the gumption to send things into the big dogs) hoping to get published in the new Call of Cthulhu materials.

My next several drawings'll be me creating a portfolio to send off to White Wolf (their submission process is more involved than D&D's oddly enough), keep your fingers crossed for me that I can secure the models & get this all done >.<

I got some badass stock photos my brother Jeremy took horseback riding in Colorado, it wouldn't be difficult at all for me to turn those into some excellent post-apocy illustrations *grins*

Also I think you'll like the pic I'm pencilling right now, gonna submit it to WOTC Call of Cthulhu (I know, I know, selling out to the man, but if they buy it, I'll be very happy to *laughs*)

i have no problems "selling out to the man". it's much better to have food in your mouth than have moral strength sometimes.

besides no artist that enjoys any success in life didn't "sell out" anyway. it's how you make money and survive.

i wish you the best of luck and hope that great things become of it.

Very intense and striking. I really like the angle and expression of the face. Nice line work and fine contrast. Creepy imagery.

Thank you, I tried to convey the veins bulging in his throat w/ the line-shading but I'm not sure if that worked out.

Glad to creep you out :-D

It's so great when Art alone makes you interested in a book--simply because a picture can have a thousand words, or a thousand interpretations.

No problemo, hoseramo!

I'll be sure to ask borders (is it one of those things, border things--books? XD), see what I can do.

I'm pretty sure it's a subscription-only magazine, you can subscribe from their website or from their MySpace account. I have no idea the cost, I get mine for free for being freelance staff.

OOhhh...I'll need to see the cost of that, then.
