It's beautiful. I love the painterly effect, and you can't go wrong with John <3 I really enjoy how the details on his notorious glasses seem to shimmer.

Thank you for your flattering comments. Those famous glasses... I had the idea after I posted off the finished work to the USA that I should have painted his glasses only in their natural colour.

Thank you. I found him really easy to paint. I never do any preliminary sketching or under drawings when I paint. I just go straight in with wet brush and paint. The John Lennon portrait I did in about 2 hours and the actual size is 23x33ins. It's in America in New Jersey.

The painting is with a woman who is crazy about The Beatles, but John Lennon in particular. I used to do preliminary sketches but now I don't need to. Of course when I went to school the tutors insisted on it. I have been painting ever since I could pick up a brush and the feeling has never left me although I had to do other work to earn a living.

The human part of all greats always lacks lustre compared with the brightness of their genius.

I liked him though. I never did go and see The Beatles live when I had the chance. Of course, I'm sorry now. Always thought they'd be around, ya know.

I did it for a friend who lives in NJ, as a birthday present - she is a Big Beatles fan. In November she came to England with her brother. She wanted to fulfil a lifetime ambition and go on the Beatles tour, see where the boys were born, the houses they lived in, the Beatles museum in Liverpool and visit the Cavern Club where they first played. Has I live not far from there I took her. I found it really interesting too.

Yeah, we had a good time but it was all in a rush because she only had a couple of days in Manchester to do the Beatles thing, I drove her to Liverpool which is 35 miles from here.

I did it for a friend in NJ. She came to visit a few months ago and I took her on the Beatles "Magical Mystery Tour". We spent two days in Liverpool and she loved every minute. It made me happy to see her happy. John Lennon is her lifetime idol. The painting hangs now in her bedroom - a birthday gift.

I never got to see the Beatles in concert, but a few years ago saw Paul McCartney on stage....a full three hours worth! It was Fantastic.

I know a guy who knows him personally. He says he is a genuinely nice guy. I never got to see "The Beatles" either when I had the chance. I regret it now. I've seen the houses they were born in; the streets they grew up in; the Cavern Club where they played... but never seen them.

I assume you mean Sir Paul. Anyway, though not growing up experiencing the Beatle phenomenon first hand, my daughter just loves them. So do a lot of young people. So cool.

Yeah, it's amazing. The house or I should say Paul's last house he lived in in Liverpool is still there like the rest of the band's birthplaces. Paul still goes there sometimes and if you're lucky and are there when he is he'll chat with you and have photos.

I guess he will get over her better than she will forget him. I don't know anything about her so I really can't comment. But I take your point.
