Description With less than two years left in Amy's sentence, Deer Ridge Punishment Center became a Severe Punishment Complex. This worried Amy even more than when she was sent to Quarry Camp. Would they still release her when her seventy-five months were officially served? Why did they have to transform now, with the end so close? Amy had no time to contemplate what lie ahead. She, and almost eight hundred other female prisoners,  were ordered to report to the intake center for re-processing. This was done in groups over the course of six days. Amy had unwittingly helped schedule it all. She was in the first group.

Again she was inspected, searched, and re-photographed. They issued her a new uniform--open busted like at Complex 18A and B-- and a collar (which she hadn't had to wear since Quarry Camp. At least this one didn't chafe.) She kept her shackles and her bow-- a relief because it meant she would continue to work in the office. What especially distressed Amy was the extra tattoos she was given. Her number, 25916 was marked on her chest and left thigh. On her right thigh was the word "LOOK." Even worse, on her back they inked "ESCAPE RISK PRISONER 25916." Her new uniform was skimpy so these were always visible. These tattoos took several painful hours to apply. What Amy didn't know was that the ink was temporary. With the injection of a special enzyme it would fade and disappear completely. At least she wasn't pierced or skewered. Marked and uniformed, with new punishment equipment, Amy had to get ready for whatever might be coming.

Despite her new look, Amy's responsibilities did not change much at Deer Ridge. She still worked in the office and outbuildings of the prison. Walking barefoot across the grounds, slightly hobbled by her chains, Amy glanced at the other prisoners as they slaved away at sorting reclaimed metal, glass, and plastic, loaded or unloaded material, or just carried heavy weights around all day. For efficiency, they installed a small cell in a wing of the office so Amy wouldn't have to go sleep in one of the main blocks. They even put in a "Kennel Cell" so she could continue to work if she was being randomly punished.

What scared Amy and the other prisoners were the two new blocks at the opposite end of the complex. "P" block was for extreme punishment, torture, and brutal interrogations. The building itself was windowless and soundproof. Amy hoped she would never be sent there. Even worse was "X" block, site of Deer Ridges new Death Row. Amy definitely did not want to end up there.

One day, however, Amy did find herself in "X" block. Despite having been told it was just for her job, she was terrified. It didn't help that upon entering the block a guard attached a leash to her collar and lead her past several starving cells, a gallows, an electric chair, and a wall that had numerous bullet holes in it. They entered a loading dock where Amy noticed ten long rubberized bags arranged in a row on the floor. Each one was partially unzipped and she noticed inside them were ten dead women. They were freshly deceased, some were rather swollen and battered looking. The guard gave Amy a smart phone and told her photograph and enter the info on each prisoner zip up the bag and once that was done, drag each of them to an open box truck and load them in so they could be transported to the main reclamation center for the harvest of organs and other tissue.

Amy would have none of this. She fell to her knees alternately sobbing and screaming. The guard hit her with a rubber whip right across her back and tits. She did not stop. Normally this would have gone very badly for a prisoner. They could have just executed her then and there, or sent her to "P" block, then executed her after she was completely broken. Instead the guard called the main office and ended up talking to the warden himself. It was a one sided conversation. Amy stopped crying just enough to hear the warden shouting at the guard. It wasn't long before someone from the office arrived to take Amy back. They locked her in the "Kennel Cell" so she could calm down. After a while, the warden spoke to her through the slit in the door.

"I don't know what happened. They had no call trying to make you do that! That is not part of your duties here."

In the confines of the tiny cell, Amy eventually calmed down but she was still shaken by the whole ordeal. After that she was never sent anywhere near those two blocks. She did find herself working with data  every so often that she suspected had connections to the operation of those blocks but she gave no resistance. She just wanted to survive the rest of her sentence.
