Description YAY, IM BACK!!! HAPPY (LATE) NEW YEAR EVERYONE!

Why had I been so away? well, a bunch of stuff: my dog got stolen, my pet chicken died, I´m getting a new job (something more stable... which has nothing to do directly with any of my titles), I´m working on another postgraduate proposal, I´m working on various projects and.... general cleaning and remodeling.

Actually I wanted to post this one at the beginning of the year but I wanted to make it special and perhaps put more time in each draw, however this went like this:

I wanted to re-read a book (The adventures of the good Soldier Svejk,a hilarious satirical/dark comedy during ww1 about what very well could be a pokemons incompetent team rocket´s member Chez version, i recommend it, its funny, just be wary if you get an old version for the language can be a bit hard if you´re not used to old books). Anyways.... I couldn´t find the book, so I decided to do a bit of winter cleaning and it became "RESHELVING DAY [link] (watch the first 50 secs or so) " , but since I actually have a few hundreds of books... and only in my room.... it took a few days, then since I was cleaning up why not continue with my closet... it became a cleaning week, then why not repaint and lavish my room since I was on it anyways... and it became a remodelaing month.

Just as a cultural note: Mexicans usually don´t bother with remodeling and lavishing homes. We don´t really have much time for the aesthetics and money for something as silly as painting when its not really necessary may as well be used for something that is actually useful ¬_¬ thats the general view. On the other side Mexican homes are bunkers (most likely you wont find wood houses, much less those one that look as if they were made of paper), hard bricks (and that is the light ones), barred windows, high wall surrounding properties, barbed steel wire and or broken glass on top of said outer walls... at least thats the rule in big cities.

I´m still dealing with the electrical wiring because I want new illumination system and I´m adding the wood cornices (yeah, I do stuff myself), and whatnot.

So here I am late for updates. Sorry everyone about that, I will try to fasten for next update but its hard. And I may take a lot to answer to anything, but I assure you that I actually read everything.

----------------------------------------- México and Ireland--------------------------

During last year´s fair of the friendly nations in México city Ireland participated for the 1º time,on the inaugural parade, Ireland had a band of bagpipers, at some point they were playing Mexican songs like cielito lindo (WITH bagpipes, it was moving and awesome), when the Irish screamed "VIVA MEXICO", some mexicans like myself responded with "ERIN GO BRAGH!" and we were all at the tops of high spirits, I even sang "the foggy dew" [link] you could feel the friendship between the countries.

México may like Germany and have a crush on Russia, but if there is a country México actually calls a friend (and means it) that is Ireland. Mexicans like Irish so much that in some places when and Irish get out his/her passport he or she may get a free beer or something (its true)... yep, Ireland is just cherished that much by Mexicans. Why?

Many reasons, there are many similitudes as you can see in the strip, but the St. Patrick´s battalion is one of the most important reasons.

Back in 1846 when USA invaded México (and later took away like 60% of the Mexican territory) Irish and other immigrants were treated really bad in USA and deflected to the Mexican side. These Irish (and German and Scottish) fought and died for México along the Mexicans, the final battle was at the ex-convent of Churubusco where they fought till they ran out of ammunition (REALLY bad stuff happened to those caught by the gringos), but the survivors were recognized by the Mexican government and cemented the good relationship between the countries [link] and in the national Mexican chamber of Deputies the names of the battalion are inscribed in gold letter along other Mexican heroes.

Actually both México and Ireland commemorates the St. Patrick´s battalion,in México officially twice a year, the 12 of September, day of the first executions and during St. Patrick´s day, and Ireland on the 12 of September in Galway rises the Mexican flag and plays the Mexican anthem. That is also why St. Patricks day is celebrated in some latin communities around the world. Also every month there is a ceremonial bagpipes tatoo at the ex convent of Churubusco (now the national museum of foreign interventions) to honor the battalion [link] .

Mexicans do not forget, not all the shit done to us much less acts of friendship, camaraderie, kinship, honor and bravery like the ones St. Patrick´s battalion did. If an Irish ever needs me she can count on me. I would gladly help.

Awesome!!! I never realized how much Ireland and Mexico have in common.

( Not to mention they were both former European colonies that fought their way to independence )

I thought people from ireland have black hair. ???
Wat...
I'm pretty sure it's just a stereotype for an irish person to have red hair because Scotsmen have red hair and the two countries often get confused.

I love your snaps of Mexico, they are so chingonas.

I think that as a couple they would clash because of how similar they are, but that´s what makes them so good friends.

Mejores amigos y comapñeros de ped... parrandas.

Sip, si la vi. El concepto era tan genial y podrìa haber sido algo tan bueno... pero lamentablemente al final se queda a medio camino entre documental y comedia pero no llega a ninguna.

Mymulticoloreyes In reply to chaos-dark-lord [2013-03-13 05:50:32 +0000 UTC]

Gran dibujo
