Description The sword was imbued with the soul of a monstrous demon of darkness, and cursed to blaze as long as it existed.  It was sadistic torture; the blade struggling to exist as a creature of darkness and yet constantly blinded by fire.  Its anger and pain did not offer relief, as this rage only intensified the effect of the curse; the fire glowing with an unimaginable heat that bit into the darkness even harder...

Man, I absolutely love the "brushed" orange glows.  This effect will need to be exploited a bit more, I think!  Anyway, I have my mind made up to do something icy next.  Actually I've had an idea for something icy for a bit, but the problem is getting the right levels of sheen and density to do so.   And colors, of course, but those are fun!

Rendered using a beta build of Chaotica 2 (!!!), huzzah for GPU acceleration!  Although I won't say too much about it, I'm very psyched about what it's able to do so far!

Apo + Chaotica

Not that I am consciously aware of. It was a challenge trying to determine what this should when be, and didn't even receive a name until after it was finished, which is highly unusual for me...

For some reason, naming this was a nightmare. Once I got the name, the underlying backstory fell into place without to much of an issue, but getting to that point...didn't occur until after I had finished creating this. My mind just drew a blank..and I think that didn't help when it came to the final changes and presentation, as it was hard for me to figure out what exactly I should be focusing on...

I know how twisted this themed works get especially to title. I end up picking titles after finishing when there's whole substance of the work it's easier to see, although I see it all before it finishes sometimes.

I nearly always have an idea that guides what I do. Unless I have a specific idea I am trying to work with, I usually get some strong ideas when I'm working on the colors. Most of the final details and shaping is done with this in mind -- as I refine it to the theme(s) -- and by then it's just coming up with an interesting sounding interpretation.

If this is what Chaotica 2 can do, then I am most excited for its release! This is superbly rendered and designed. Magnificent work!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

ChaosFissure In reply to ThoughtWeaver [2015-10-07 12:59:40 +0000 UTC]

To be fair, Chaotica 2 was only used for rendering. I did editing in an older version of Chaotica

ThoughtWeaver In reply to ChaosFissure [2015-10-07 15:17:44 +0000 UTC]

Well, of course, the compliment on rendering was to Chaotica 2; that of design was directly to you.

ChaosFissure In reply to ThoughtWeaver [2015-10-07 15:44:22 +0000 UTC]

Oh, I was meaning that Chaotica 2 wasn't used to edit anything -- I used 1.5.7 for editing, and 2 for rendering XD

They are getting better and better, just those circles alone are an eye attraction on their own

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

ChaosFissure In reply to Valentijn90 [2015-10-07 15:49:12 +0000 UTC]

Those circles are amazing. The problem with them is that they prevent normal "speckle" effects (stars, glowy dots, and grain) because they become circular. Due to this, I might not be able to use this technique as much as I would like to...or I'll need to find a way around it somehow!
