El Chapulín Colorado made a surprise trip to the US it seems, as I spotted him at a local haunt this halloween. The greatest Latin American Superhero ever born, I had to take a picture. Having grown up watching Chavo del 8 with our titular hero, I was pleasantly surprise to find not only someone costumed as, but also acting like el Chapulín would (He took to el Chapulín signature pose without a mere mention on my part).

As it goes, another reason I like this picture, and the character, as much as I do is because what he represents. He is the anti-thesis of superheroes, of your Standard Superman or Batman. He has no true powers, he is human all around yet still tries (Keyword here) to save the day. To his credit, he does save it somehow. He reminds me of another character parody in the same vein. El Chapulín Colorado is to Superman what Maxwell Smart is to James Bond. Having just watched the awesome and true to heart remake of Get Smart, El Chapulín Colorado brings Agent 86's super agent class to the super hero division.

The idea with the composition is to illustrate el Chapulín Colorado's larger the life surrealism to a visual effect. Also, I mistakenly took the first picture in Nighttime mode and liked it too much not to use it.
