Description Digital Painting of Annapurna, Ketu and Makalu, Snow Leopards at the Buffalo Zoo
Painted in Photoshop CS5, using three of my own photos as reference.
About 9 hours of work.

Please note that I don't have time to say "thank you" for every favourite, but I appreciate them all nonetheless! Thank you all for your support!!!

I had such a great time painting my other snow leopard cub piece, that I decided to do another!

This little family was simply adorable beyond words, something I strongly suggest you check out if you live anywhere near the Buffalo Zoo!
I based this painting on some cute behaviour that I saw last week. Annapurna was being a great sport, letting the cubs practice pouncing on her, but she got tired of the game, and fled to higher ground... she wasn't safe however, and one of the cub's started swatting it, while the other cub hissed at his brother. It was priceless.

I am SO happy that you like the composition in these! It is something that I have really been trying to work on lately. I know that in many of my works, I just focus on a portrait of an animal, and throw composition out the window... but with these broader images I've really been giving it a lot of thought. Using multiple references has helped me I think, because I am not worried about staying true-to-photo-reference... I really am thrilled that you like the composition! That is always one of the strongest elements in your photography
I am also very pleased to hear that you like the fur. I've struggled a lot with getting that bunched-up look, it is more difficult than I could have ever expected! Think I'm finally getting the hang of it

I'm glad you found it useful to you. I can definitely tell you have been working on the things I mentioned. I've never considered composition to be my strong point, but thank you so much for saying that! It takes practice, and soon enough you'll have the techniques down pat.

I got super insanely attached to the cubs in this painting... saw them so often they learned to recognize me and would come visit me at the window. It was a sad day for me when they moved away. They certainly left me with a huge appreciation for snow leopards though, one that will last a lifetime!Β
