this is actually quite spooky cos only just yesterday I was thinking about a shot with playing cards, and I thought the joker card would have been interesting to use...I wouldn't have done it as great tho, so well done!

i really enjoy looking at this shot.. the brightness and contrast came out exceptionally well, which can usually be tricky for black and white shots, and especially for macro shots on top of that. to me the title ties in with the image in that it reminds me of a magic show...the card, the jester performing, the 'third act' of a show perhaps. the way in which the card is position conveys this sense of hiding or shrouding something that is yet to be revealed when the 'curtains open' really neat effect that is also enhanced by how the lighting in front of the card is much darker in comparison to the background. the detail and textures came out very nicely too great concept and composition.

thankyou once again for the great comment, yes you are not far off at all with the meaning, the title is very easily related to the actual card, "the magic show" is the performance all of us do to blend in and be accepted in all societies stages be it large or small in significance, the positioning of the card was very important to me in this piece, i wanted it to signify the balance we all strike between (as you said) the shrouding, and the wanted exceptance of the light. The hiding of most of the actual card is the portayal that by doing our own magic shows we inadvertantly cut ourselves off from so many actions, insights and especially feelings,- hence the shadows. Thankyou for the insights of your keen mind once again.
