I being sketchy again. Sorry for the artistic spam
.Did this real quick like. Kinda sorta practice for a commission about an undisclosed topic for an at the moment unidentified Deviant (vague is fun
) . Anyhoo, the pic involves our lovable screamer to be seated somewhere with stuff going on around him....and stuff. ya, know?

Hey man, I think you need to start working on tightening up some of your sketches.
Even for a sketch, you have very frustrated lineart. You should try to be a little more definite with it and maybe confident in some respects.
Judging by your lines, it looks as if your worrying too much about how it looks rather than fluid. Try not to draw from your head and let it flow out of you. I can tell your aiming for a pose, but don't be too constrained by how you envisioned it.
On a final note, I think you should start branching out a little with your shapes. The good part is that your keeping it geometric, but you should mix it up a bit and use more complex base shapes rather than just boxes.
Oh and mega lastly, try utilizing curves a little. I know thats a little more Mobile Suit than Transformer, but mecha is mecha. They all use the same principals.
Anyway, don't look at what I've written too harsh. Its just advice, take it or leave it.
To be positive, your definitely getting better and better. Especially your bg's and general detail (maybe not necessarily in this pic though) haha.

Not to make excuses, but I did open this up with an apology for the 'art spam'. This pic was done really quick. I get images or ideas and I just gotta get 'em out. I agree with all your critiques. I like you honesty. I don't have time to put everything I want to paper so I do get frustrated, and pics like this are kind of a release. I share 'em sometimes, but I have waaay more that I never submit.
I'll make up for it with some decent inks

The last time I tried commenting like that on my sister's sketches, I almost got a charcoal in the jugular and the words 'its only a sketch dammit...!' as I blacked out. I'm so glad I only crank wrenches, pens, and comedy from time to time...

I've always respected his honesty. I agree with him on his critique, but I did say it was 'spam' and practice. It's funny, but my pencil and/or ink sketches seem to generate the most interesting comments and feed back.

To be honest, I liked Nano's comment (i've seen their art). I had just commented on something my sister did and was bleeding over my keyboard when I read Nano's comment. It was that comic's sarcasm. And pain. But we locked her in her room and took her charcoals away from her and was waiting for the chicken soup we forced down her gullet to take effect (okay, it wasn't soup, but children could be reading and we don't want to be sued by AA).

Y'know, if this one requires dialog, writing it won't make much sense if he doesn't have a mouth. I assume that will come later. I have to admit that you do a good job drawing Starscream, even in sketchy mode.

Actually, yes-- but it was still about the torture--I've hung out with a Mary Sue wannabee--it IS a torment. It was either that, or a day with my sister while SHE'S trying to draw. She could make MEGATRON cry.
