Description Some inspiration just walked thru my door and hit me over the head. The result is a howling wolf tribal.

Shade and Sweet Water!
You aren't a wolfrider in your second life, are you?
I simply love these strong and wild elves from Wendy Pinis "Elfquest".

I wish I was a wolfrider in my first life... if there is such a thing as a first life

I think Scouter was my favourite, although its been a few years since last I read Elfquest. Much joy and much heartache it brought me...

Glad you liked the tribal

He, he - I always liked Skywise best. Sometimes wished I would heve been one of his maiden
So much for heartache ....

Well - I'm going to leave the office in a few minutes and will use the train home to work with my story (have new ideas ... )
Have a nice weekend!

Oh - yes, I had a friendly, grey, wet weekend (grrr! - that's how the terrible pink thing I posted today was born). Used it to "dreamwalk" the Anauroch and to finish and post chapter 6 of my fanfic.
I decided to anger my audience: it's a cliffhanger, ending with a disastrous flasback, something like:
>>
Torias leaned his head against my shoulder.
"How are you?" I asked softly.
"I'm fine ...only..tired"
That's: he is not fine. Damned! Where's the healer got to?
As I impatiently turned my head to look for her I had to close my eyes, blended by the raising sun.
...
As I impatiently turned my head to look for Shun I had to close my eyes, blended by the raising sun. Fire, smoke and pain ..
I held Annadhi tight to me: her face covered with a thin film of sweat, her hands clasping the orc's arrow sticking in her chest. She was fighting, but the poison ran faster through her veins as a star would fall.
"Shun!", I shouted through the roar of the battle. My right fist raising to the sky I called my squad to fallback and kept an eye on the injured mage.
"Hold on", I asked her cursing myself for beeing that helpless.
"HASHUN! DAMNED!"
At last! Two figures emerged from the drifting smoke. Only to instantly die in the wafting ember of a fireball..
Moments later the flaming wall swept toward me.
>>
Well - that's it for the moment. Now - let's see, how to get out of this mess

Yep, thats a cliffhanger all right Well, technically a sandhanger, but the end result is the same

How do you mean that you dreamwalk? *curious*

dreamwalking ... hmmmm...
I just "invented" this word when I worte this message.
Seems to be kind of "sleepwalking" beeing half awake/aware. This happens to me every morning, sitting in the train, listening to music, looking out of the window

I try to imagen most things I write or draw as intensive as possible. How will it feel to step into hot dusty sand, what will skies and horizons look like? How does a burning giant-scorpion smell (urgh!)? Is it possible to wield a sword or to move the body this or that way ? (Well, tricky things I'm going to find out with the help of my Tai-Chi teacher)
Don't know if it helps to make stories or pictures better, but it's fun ... somehow.

"Sandhanger"? That's great!

That is interesting I think I know that state of consciousness, but I can't enter it at will... it only comes near sleep. Imagination runs wild during that time, much more than normal. And I have a vivid imagination to begin with!

I wish I could experience other states of awareness, but I don't know how to do it yet. Must be something special to practice Tai Chi. And I do think it will make your stories a lot better.

BTW, I think the smell of burning giant scorpion will depend on the sauce you serve it with

Carl, you're killing me ...
In this state of consciousness (half a bootle of cheap red wine is twisting my mind) speaking of sauces to be served with grilled scorpions is more than I can stand

Have a good night!

I'm glad my sense of slightly warped humor has done its job right
Maybe you should introduce the dreaded FaerΓ»n chef, a troll or similar omnivore, that cooks anything unfortunate enough to cross his path...

Hope you too had a good night over there

shoughad In reply to Charle-magne [2009-03-20 19:22:35 +0000 UTC]

Yep - both

Have had a good night. Well - I mostly have good nights. I'm just like those funny dolls who close their eys if you lay them down: give me something to snuggle in and I'll start snoring within a few moments ...
Unfortunately it works only in one direction. To get up in the morning is like struggling myself out of a swamp.

The other point: introducing a FaerΓ»n chef de cuisine ... I did it two chapters ago. Believe it or not...
Xanos, my half-orcish henchman decided to find his luck rather in cooking than in hanging around with my players character Keshi (the soldier girl that almost got toasted...).
So - he's a master in brewing hot wine punches and cooking rabbit-stew. But I can't imagen him preparing a scorpion on a spit. Those monsters a giant scorpions. I mean GIANT ... So he would need a GIANT spit and a TUB for the sauce.
OK - maybe we find some stuff in a bathroom-ruin from a crashed floating city?
Geee - should stop drinking orc-beer

A bit envious that you can fall asleep that easily... depending on situation, it can take hours for me. But then again, i can wake up easily... but WANTING to get up is something else.

Haha, you already introduced the chef? Wierd, sometimes I really CAN read minds.

Regarding the near-impossible task of cooking giant scorpions... there is a saying about the folk where I live, that you shouldn't give them an impossible task, since they are so stubborn that they will find the solution Maybe that orc works the same way?

BTW, where do you live (assuming its somewhere in Deutchland)?

Anyways, hope you had a great weekend!

Um ... I'm sorry for the late answer. It's quarters end - that means hard times for me at the office and hard times for drows and dragons on my PC.

Ha, you're not the only one asking me to sizzle those giant monsters... But - No! I would do anything for a good plot, but I won't do that. Lots of rotten magic in them ...
Some years ago I was in Cambodia and tried a local delicacy: roasted black spider . Well, trust me: there can't be people - even half-orcs - stubborn or brave enogh to even ponder about that.

My stories is still growing - but due to my actual experiences in tilting at windmills in the job - it's growing quite dark and desperate. Seems that I'm going to kill one of my main characters ...

Yes - I live in Germany - somewhere in the middle of the northern part in a village south from Hannover (the Expo 2000 town), between Hameln (known for the legend of the Pied Piper of Hamelin) and Hildesheim (has an over 1.000 year old rose tree) Try here: [link]
How is your art doing? Any new maps in progress?

Charle-magne In reply to shoughad [2009-03-26 16:34:24 +0000 UTC]

It's ok I can imagine the pace at the office, and the suffering of those poor drow... they're just misunderstodd .... NOT.

Well, I suppose most would'nt want the rotten magic in the roasted giant scorpions, but I guess some mages are actually after the slighty warped magic stuff.

Hmmm, tilting at windmills... it reminds me of this: [link]

Its a tough job to kill one of the main characters, something 99% of all writers cannot do without starting to hate the character first. But those that CAN... they are far above the rest, because they create realism in the story ...not to mention nostalgia.

It looks like you live right on the edge (of the forest!). I wonder what its like down there. I live here myself, right in the middle of nowhere... a place marketed as the greenest city/town in Europe. And STILL I can't find an apartment for myself... Anyways, I haven't created much new stuff recently, but that will come as soon as the ideas spring to mind
