Thanks for the history and the comic relief! And the beautiful artwork, of course.

*chuckles* You annoy your neighbors with amateur renditions of Puccini?!
You have a lovely sounding home. (when it's not flooding and being a pain.)

Beautiful lightscape, enchanted and magical. Nice sunset glow on El Toro and twinkling city lights plus marvelous description of the path to your place.

Thank you! I missed the chance to make a Verdi joke about an anvil chorus, but oh well.

so many dreams that don't come true
When I visit El Toro on a silent evening I shall look to the northwest for the flame and listen for banging on the anvil

Looks like a cinder cone. They're quite common up and down the west coast. Shasta is a REALLY BIG one.
Beautiful job with the moon light.

Thank you! no cinder, interestingly, in the area, green serpentine and granite, very solid stuff and the famous red yellow black poppy jasper only found in this one spot in the whole world. more like a dome volcano? although I'm not really buying that either. the real thing is there's just no basalt in the area! it's all serpentine! I dunno, something weird about all this ultramafic rock. I can find nothing about what type of volcano El Toro is thought to be.

By far my favourite thing about this work is the quality and use of light.

I was thinking El Toro the base and the town down here, but if there is an installation of some sort up there called "the box", well, my curiosity has been intrigued.
