Played Portal, completed it twice ^^ The automatic turrets are just the cutest thing ever, I had to draw one. They have this cute habit of saying "help!" if you pick one up, and if you knock one over, after it flails around firing bullets, it'll shut down and say something like "No hard feelings" or "I don't hate you". In short, Portal turrets are the cutest ever. Also very cute is GLaDOS's curiosity sphere. "Who are you? What is that? Ooh what's that? That thing has numbers on it! What's that? No, that other thing. Do you smell burning?" XDRelated content

I didn't really want to incinerate the Curiosity Sphere.
I swear when the turrets say "Put me down" I want to do what they say, but they're just to adorable to not carry around with you. xD

I set some of their phrases as windows noises, as well as some of GLaDOS's xD

I almost shed a tear when i had to toss the curiosity sphere in the incinerator, it screamed in pain ;_;

I dunno if it was the sphere or GLaDOS that screamed. The dialogue subtitles suggest it was GLaDOS that screamed (Colour coding shows GLaDOS as light red text and curiosity sphere as orange text. When you dump the sphere in, the subtitles show "*SCREAM*" in light red text :3)

When GLaDOS says "It wouldn't matter...." and then I can clearly hear G-Man's voice say "To me...." in the boss fight.

I saw G-Man in one of the windows, But he was wearing a hat, kinda a long brimmed one at that. I cannot remember which level it was. and of course he did his walk off thing at the split second you enter the room.

Portals in games ranges back to times long ago. So what they sell as "ground breaking new technology" is in fact old stuff hyped up. Not that it's bad or something like that but it's simply nothing ground breaking if you know a bit games also from the inside

...yeah, um, sure portals aren't new, but managing to place them anywhere you want, and do actions THROUGH a portal, without being in it (like picking up a apreture enrichment center storage cube) and stuff like that is new. The physics to.

The only "new" thing ( if we want to call it new ) is placing the portals anywhere. The rest has been done long or less long time ago by other games. So they did not invent something glorious in the end, they just had been well on selling it as something new ^.=.^

"Amazing" story and "freaking awesome" are very washy adjectives. Lots of crap is hyped up to be glorious and tagged with such adjectives while at the same time really good stuff is neglected just because it does not have a well known name stamped on it.
What goes for usage of portals there are games way back. More recent kind of this species would be Prey. A more older kind of this species would be Quake3 Arena.
Nobody said by the way that the Portal tech-demo can not be fun or good the point is simply that claiming this to be new and ground breaking technology is an utter lie and I hate nothing more than telling lies to raise your image/sales.

what i am trying to say, is there has never been a mainstream game, (non modded, and suchforth) that has been based around portal technology. Who said it was new anyway?
