UPDATE 9/10/11: I finally got on DA after a week of school, and a pleasant surprise awaited me! I placed 3rd in the Category 2: 14-15 yr olds!!! This is my first time placing in a decent-sized contest on DA, so I'm absolutely THRILLED!! 8DD woooo~ all the hardwork payed off; thanks so much everyone

This is my contest entry for
I've always wanted to try a sort of elemental fight, so I'm glad I finally did. ^^ I could probably extend this painting too, adding in the other fire side which would most likely be a lion. Also, for the background, I was just experimenting with salt and wet-on-wet painting, and I was definitely not expecting that it would turn out like this!
I know the photo isn't that good, but I did my best. I don't have a good camera and all the lights in the house are pretty dim (I didn't have a chance to take the pic in daytime). Just so you know, most of the white areas are supposed to be yellow.
Lastly, I know there are some issues with this painting; the head is probably odd because I attached a tiger head onto a mountain lion's body...not the smartest thing to do hehe. :V and the EYES are purposefully the blue color! I'm not that ignorant. >_< I thought it would be more appropriate for the tiger to have a magical eye transformation to match his aura.
I worked really hard on this, so I hope you all like this!

It takes a while to get used to though, so keep practicing and you'll be a pro in no time! It took me 6 years to get here

I need to came back to watercolors, I love the effects, but I am more acrylic/oil painter X-D unfortunetlly I don't have this "smooth" in my brush haha or hand!

absolutely yes, this watercolor brush is just tooo SOFT hahah X-D I like the oil/acrylic brushes 'cause I can feel the controle ^^

Ohh haha I'm a delicate/timid person, so watercolor matches my personality XD Acrylic and oil are challenging for me because I have to be bold, and it seems harder to control because the brushes and paints are thicker, bulkier, and less precise than watercolor. xP Haha same; I don't get much extra time to draw during the school year.

Wow! That's such an awesome idea! I saw something like that In a craft book ages ago( for a underwater scenery), but It was no were near as impressive & thus I'd never have imaged it could create such a lovely effect
Will you follow art as a profession when your older do you think?

Hmm well I'm also into biology, so I could be a joint biologist and artist...but I don't know if I can do both at the same time. I do know, however, that I'm willing to follow a life as an artist if it comes to that! I feel like ever since middle school, I've had to deprive myself of art in order to get schoolwork done and it's really unnerved me, so maybe the right place for me is art.

well idk I don't really feel like it...I mean if I do it'll be like showing off 'since it has nothing to do with fb; usually I just upload profile pics, art for friends on FB, and anything I feeel like uploading. >_< Sometimes I think I overupload though. like if I was blah, I might be annoyed that I(myself) is uploading random photos (ex. my photography folder) and showing off. :[

I don't know much about the anatomy of tigers, so I'd be of no help there, but my suggestion would be to add more color to the tigers arm.
