A gift from a week ago for my friend.I'm really proud of this work because I worked extremely hard on this! I know the feathers are ng, but I tried my best. >_< Also, I improved a lot with painting, so I'm satisfied! Hope you guys like this.

Great! The focus is what I love most. It feels like a camera lens that is focused on the eyes and the beak while everything else falls away. Great detail on the small hairs and the colors in the beak is beautiful.
The only thing I wanted to see more in this piece is a little more green or grey/blue in the background so it feels more like the bird is in it's element.

Aha true true; others have commented about that too. Originally, I just wanted a colorful, magical-like background, and I didn't think much about putting the eagle in a natural environment. Hopefully this wan't too big an issue ^^' I'm still very uncomfortable with foreground/background interaction and compatibility as well as lighting and shadows, so I gotta work on that. >_<

Wow. This really caught my eye, the detail and colour is amazing!
I admit part of it does look incomplete compared to the sharpness in the area about the eye and beak, but overall it's really good.

I don't think the color's for the bg looks weird... I guess in real life you wouldn't really find those colors in the backdrop of a bird's head, but still. Psh.
I like how you made the bg look all paintbrushy.

Wait what? I don't recall saying that the bg colors look weird. o_o or are you saying that they DO look weird? Well I basically took the colors of the bg from the 2nd reference link, and intensified it so that it was more colorful. ^^' It's not exactly realistic, but it's appealing.

Hmm, for constructive criticism, the only thing that looks a bit odd would be the background. The colors you choose look a bit out of place. You could add more details to the feathers, but it would still look great regardless!!

Haha very true, but my original intent in drawing this was for it to have a bright mood, and I was aiming more for semi-realism, so I thought I'd go for some odd, colorful colors. xD Thanks for pointing it out though! I'll be careful not to overdo the colors on future realistic works.
