A portrait! Gasp!Allow me to explain.
Recently I've encountered a magnificent book series by Garth Nix called the Keys to the Kingdom. I was so impressed by them that I was moved to try to draw realistically for the first time in while.
This is Arthur Penhaligon, the hero of the story. He's kind of thrown into the whole thing by accident but manages to continue through the Week, mastering each Morrow Day and controlling their Keys. So far, he's Master of the Lower House, Lord of the Far Reaches, Commander of the Glorious Army of the Architect...It's quite a list.
(For those of you who have read these, I didn't quite agree with the picture of Arthur they chose...so I drew my own.

I could care less if he got better looking, he changed WAY to much. It was like when I read Mockingjay and Finnick died. I wanted to slap the author so badly. Also, if they made a movie series for Keys to the Kingdom, who do you think would be the best Arthur?

I'm not sure who I'd pick to play him. Maybe Logan Lerman? Can't say that I've thought about it much, though they would make pretty good movies.

I think he would but.....He's not as young as Arthur is. I think Logan would be good for Arthur after the change though.

Woah, I think that's really quite cute. Nice rendition of Arthur. Effin love that book series, though I've only read two so far and I recently got the others and so I've started reading it from the first book again. Great job. The face has life to it. Awesome

You're right, there's hardly any and it really is a shame. It's such an imaginative series at that too. I might try drawing a picture inspired by the series but I dunno if I actually will XDD But yeah I'd atleast like to draw Suzy. She's so awesome

The ending is...unique. 
There's so many opportunities for good pictures! It's sad there aren't that many. You should draw some! We need all the Keys to the Kingdom artists we can get!

That is pretty awesome. I read through a few of them in a couple of days and couldn't help but draw afterwards.

Yeshh you're right! Oh I see. They've got an artwork by ~mc-the-lane who's art is awesome and he also drew a drawing of Sabriel I think. One of the few people. I can't believe his stuff doesn't get much fan art or stuff around here. Yeah it really doesn't look very active..pooh =_=

Yeah he has, it's a collaboration with another author though. Seems interesting. Hope it's good. And he has another book series coming out, written by him called A cofusion of Princes..yeah XD

Yeah, I bought the first book in the trouble twister series. It's not bad..since it's a collab, it is a wee bit different..but the book got more interesting around the end and I'm looking forward to reading the next book.

I'm back in school, actually. I'm really not happy to be back, but I do have a drawing class that lets me do 6 free drawings a week...so I might be able to do some Keys to the Kingdom art and get work done for class.

I like the expression in his face. You can tell it's one of those moments when he feels like a mortal boy in a big world, a little overwhelmed but still determined to keep moving.

Good job. The Keys To The Kingdom, by Garth Nix is my favorite series and the best series written by man and the best in The Universe. Have you read Lord Sunday, the last novel? You should draw a picture of what he looks like in that book. Arthur The Rightful Heir to The Universe. He is Master of the Lower House, Lord of The Far Reaches, Duke Of The Border Sea, Overlord of The Great Maze, Commander in chief of The Glorious Army Of The Architect, Master of The Middle House, Ruler of The Upper House. He becomes The New Architect and recreates The Universe and everything which was swallowed up by the tide of nothing. As The New Architect he is twelve feet tall. That is quite a height!

I haven't read Lord Sunday yet, but I have it on hold and someday it'll come in at my library. I'm very excited to read it. I have thought of drawing Arthur as a full Denizen so I might give it a try sometime.

I did use a reference picture...somewhat. Mainly for how he's leaning on his hand. Everything else sorta showed up on its own accord. ^.^ I did have a good idea of what I thought he looked like, so that helped a lot.
