So, I decided to go ahead and try to write out Noonien's story in the whole TNG universe, and the crappy quickie sketches followed. It beautifully displays my inability to draw a person the same why twice.

So far we've got Noonien Soong, son of Iseul Soong who was well respected in robotics circles and pushed his son to follow in his footsteps. Noonien refers to Iseul as "ol' big-nosed bastard" and doesn't mention his mother at all.

While Noonien helped his father and became skilled with robots and AI at a young age, his first true work with actual androids was when he was 15 and got a job repairing what he called the "brothelbots." (top right sketch) From this he gained valuable knowlege that would later be applied to his fully-functional android sons.

Noonien entered the robotics department at the Daystrom institute at a relatively young age (center sketch) and immediately set to work with androids. (He would, of course, brush up before presenting his experiments (lower left sketch), always wearing gold rimmed frames with no lenses that had belonged to his father because they made him look "properly stuffy") He gained recognition with his improved body types and fame with the Soong Alpha Series AI. The pinnacle of this series, the A-3, known as Lucy, earned him a place as star cyberneticist of the Federation.

But Noonien was not satisfied, wanting to complete his family legacy and create true artificial intelligence. He made the public promise to create a positronic brain and immediately set to work on the Beta Series. After several years the institute declared his project, the B-1, a failure and a humiliated Doctor Soong vanished. Noonien went to Omicron Theta with a few fellow disgruntled colleagues to work in peace.

And the story goes to canon from there, plus the obnoxious add-ons. Noonien married Juliana, and together the two of them worked on the B-2 and the B-3 who were failures and died. They found semi-success in B-4 (whom Juliana named Isaac, though this was never placed into his program and was thus lost), but he was a primitive prototype and Noonien began anew on his first success with B-5, named Lore. We know how that turned out. And so work on B-6 began and thus Noonien completed his ULTIMATE CREATION...

A really confused android who never did get the knack of humor, did he?

Data in the simplified style I'd use if I ever decide to put together the short SoS comic series.
