Description
B-4 in fanfic I've started where he doesn't become another Data, but uses Data's memories to springboard into his own awareness, as his brother intended. With this awareness, and the ability to transpose emotions from Data's memories, he comes to regret the part he had to play in what ended with Data's destruction, regardless of his ignorence of the situation at the time. He leaves the Enterprise on his own personal quest for redemption with the hopes of rebuilding Data.But first he has to break into a Federation lab and reactivate Lore. Cause what fun is an android adventure without the bitchy one out to eat your face? However, Lore is the one to give B-4 a new name, Myth.
He likes that scarf and won't give it up regardless what I do.
I have no internet on my laptop and so had no references to use. No Brent Spiner pics. It shows, though I tried for a little more detail in the coloring this time. I went with the early seasons' longish hair because it amused me.

What the writers did to B4 pisses me off though. If anyone would bother to look up his backstory, that anyone would realize that the poor guy went through a lot. What pisses me off more is that a lot of fans hate him because he was a badly-written replacement for Data. Don't blame the prototype. Blame the writers.

I found B-4 really annoying, actually. But the more I thought about it, I began to just feel sorry for him. How quickly was he abandoned that he has no memories of before? Or were they just wiped? How did he come to be under Shinzon? What was going to happen to him? The Countdown comics explained that and, as happy as I was that Data was back, still felt bad for poor B-4.
What is his backstory? I just made up crap about him getting sold to the Romulans and then ending up on Remus somehow.

This was taken from Memory Alpha, one of the largest Star Trek wikis out there.
"According to the original script, the B4 was taken from its homeworld by the Pakleds and traded to the Bolians. He ultimately encountered some Cardassians, who tossed him into a garbage chute and out into space, where he was found by Talosians. It was also revealed that Shinzon had learned of the prototype android through a Cardassian historian."
He sure had one hell of a time. Taken away from his home, then got traded and passed from one species to another, until he ended up in Shinzon's hands only to be used. And in the end, he got overwritten simply because the writers want Data back.
This on the other hand, was taken from Memory Beta, another ST wiki (this one's more focused on the books, which are usually non-canon):
"A few months after Nemesis, he was relocated to the Daystrom Institute, where scientists planned to disassemble him in an attempt to try and replicate a Soong-type android. This was opposed by Captain Bruce Maddox, who made a legal petition to the Federation Judiciary Committee, the highest court in the Federation. After testimony from the Doctor, he was declared a sentient being and therefore could not be disassembled.(TNG novel: Resistance; ST novel: Articles of the Federation)"
He was declared a sentient being and was overwritten. I have no scathing retort to say.
As for his memories, I'm not sure what happened. My speculation: his mind was wiped clean (most likely culprit: Shinzon. Still I don't know what's worse: your version or the one I mentioned above.

Wow, a garbage chute, poor guy. Now I feel real bad for him. The Pakleds must be wondering what's up with all the Soong androids lying around.
I'm going to go to my happy place and say it was some sort of symbiotic relationship between memory!Data and B-4. Data's the dominent personality but B-4's back there enjoying the ride.

You have no idea how pissed I was when I realized how plain wrong the whole thing was. It would suffice to say I cried a river. Your theory gives me comfort though.
Still, I wonder how would the great Dr Noonien Soong react if he ever finds out about the whole B4 is overwritten fiasco.
At least we have our AUs. I'll be looking forward to the next chapter.

Honestly, I wonder what B-4 meant to Dr. Soong, since he was apparently abandoned. But maybe not, Juliana claimed she loved them all. I go with the "B-4 was put in storage until Soong could perfect the positronic brain but then he got busy with Lore and Data" theory. On the other hand, Data was the good doctor's baby, so he might play a little favoritism there. I don't know. I do want a little stuffed android to hug now, poor B-4.
Next chapter should be up now. Beware the talking heads.

I don't know, man. I try so hard to do fan fic sometimes. but it just feels like I won't get the characters right, no matter what I know about them. You're quite brave.
I'm actually working on a Fan Fic of Drizzt. The idea will be of him before Zakn is killed. I came up with a clever way to make him stay, if only his sister and Matron had been so clever. This is what they would do. Though, eventually, it will backfire on them, I'm sure. At first it works.

A lot of character in fanfic is interpretation, I never seem to get the characters right, myself. But you should write the fic, the best way to learn is to play with those interpretations and see what the response is.
But on the matter of Drizzt, he and I have an odd relationship. ("I don't care how badass you are, you named your scimitar TWINKLE! WTF??")

Drizzt wasn't really bad ass. he was a good fighter, but he was certainly no bad ass. He was like Emo Drow before Emo became cool- in... certain circles.
I respect Drizzt and that the author brought Drow into the light, but he's not what I would call a man amongst men, really.

Well, I only read his homeland books, all three of them, and the whole time all he did was mope and whine about how hard it was to have to kill. And, by the end, he was refusing to kill even a grizzled, rotting, murderous man who would have raped that female human being raised by an adopted dwarven father (she's important later on but goddess knows i never remember her name bri, Bree... something...). He almost rapes her if not for Drizzt finding him first. And, yet, Drizzt can't kill him. Dude, there is not ending a life for it's value, and then there is taking out the trash. Come on!

you see, I try NOT to read a lot of other drow works because I don't want people later on going "She got that idea from me". They probably still could, if they wanted to, but if I haven't read their book, then they can't really impose it, can they? It's bad enough that all my drow have violet eyes. Though I'm happier with them having shades of purple instead of the overkill red, I'm upset that my husband, who lead me into the world of drow, stole the idea from Drizzt in the first place. Though, to my understanding, Lots and Lots of people have drow with violet eyes now anyway. ^.^

Mine are lame in that their eyes change color. Tadhg's eyes are black in daylight, turn violet on overcast days or at twilight. At night they are violet with a red ring around the pupil. When he's underground they are completely red. But I know exactly what you mean, the Jientosi are one ripoff after another and I'm trying to find a way to change that. Not gonna work though.

What's wrong with the changing of the eyes? I like that. And I don't know any other races that have eyes that change due to the amount of light around them. I give you kudos for that.
