Betelgeuse is a man easy to get along with, both on personal level as well as a professor. Yet it is also easy to notice he's a bit... Peculiar. His mind is easy to wander off to topics non-related to the conversation (although they ARE related in his opinion) during moments where he is not fully paying attention to the subject, especially if the topic doesn't contain one of his interests. Yet despite this it's easy for the professor to draw people in. He has a natural aura of peace and tranquillity and is nearly always seen with his typical welcoming open smile. He’s patient and kind to the point that there are people who say he has never lost his temper, although this is not completely true.
His biggest happiness comes from seeing those in his surroundings happy and he often goes out of his way to establish this. It’s not uncommon for him to step outside of his own safe boundaries just to see someone happy but he is also prone to telling white lies to KEEP people happy.
His personality has a flip side however. Despite his careless attitude the man is constantly plagued by pessimistic thoughts and worry regarding others. These 'others’ being anyone from family, to colleagues, to friends, to students. While the man is easy with forgiving he hardly forgets and has no problems with making decisions based on A singular bad experience with someone. And, while not a coward in any way, Betelgeuse simply rarely finds himself the right person to lead a situation, rather depending on a colleague he seems better fit.

History
Betelgeuse was born in a regular family in the magical Side of Berlin, Germany, as the youngest child in a family of four. Mom and Dad Agrippa weren't bad people, anything but that in fact, but spend a lot of their time working to provide for the lower class family. This caused Betelgeuse and her one year older brother Saiph to mostly fend for themselves once they passed their early years, a process that deeply bounded the two in the beginning of their lives.
Somewhere in his seventh year both of his parents, working in the same business, lost their job due to the company closing its doors. In dire need of work his father Johan accepted the offer of his sister to work in her shop. The family made drastic move to the U.K where they settled in a silent wizarding village in Yorkshire. Now with a better payment for the family than they had ever had before, giving Sigrid time to spend at home with her kids. This went on till first Saiph, and then Betelgeuse received their letter in Hogwarts.
Both of the siblings had already been established to be wizards for the longest time, surprisingly both showing magic for the first time in the same event. A kid quarrel between the two which ended with ended with Saiph shooting a ball at Betelgeuse with unusual, magic infused speed and with Betelgeuse instinctively managing to change the balls direction, it crashing through a window instead. Of course their parents still were not tóó amused about the latter.
Both of the Agrippa kids quickly got soaked up in the magic and proved themselves quiet studious regarding the matter. For Saiph this was the reason to get sorted in Ravenclaw. Agrippa however ended up in Hufflepuff. Everyone expected Saiph to outshine on the study area but this quickly turned untrue.
In the beginning years Saiph would still proudly speak of, and defend his younger sibling from those meaning harm.. but this are through the years, as he slowly got filled with bitterness. Fed up with frustration and the longing for recognition from his parents and family. Betelgeuse herself oblivious to this, totally not understanding why things turned so sour. Things got worse when it came clear, when both appeared to have the name career ambitions. After Hogwarts it became clear their relationship became worse, no matter how many attempts Betelgeuse made to mend the widening cliff between them.
Betelgeuse’s years after hogwarts were spend on a singular thing, study. Deciding somewhere in his fourth year of Hogwarts they wanted to step in the shoes of their astronomy teacher the young aspiring professor went from teacher to teacher, from expert to expert to study under all of them. Through the years gaining a broad knowledge in regard to astronomy both by personal study and a few internships. Eventually applying for the position at Hogwarts at the same time as his brother.
This event was the final straw and caused the last remnants of the bridge between their relationship to break. After a final unavoidable fight the two already estranged brothers broke their ties. Betelgeuse gaining the position at Hogwarts and Saiph moving out of Yorkshire to fulfil the same position at Durmstrang during the same year.
Now five years after that event Betelgeuse still teachers at Hogwarts, highly enjoying her job and the students she gets to work with but yet can’t help to wonder if it has all been worth it.
Other
Is a vivid hat collector. Has all kinds, all colours, for all kinds of occasions. The hat depicted however is one of their favourites.
Their gender has been a point of discussion since the very first day they arrived at school. Some say only the headmaster truly knows.
In regard to that matter, questions regarding their gender will either way be answered with “Wouldn’t you like to know~?’’ or some vague answer that’s not really an answer.
The inside of their coat is in fact a mirror of the galaxy. It changes depending on what would be visible at their current location. May or may not be used occasionally to show students a constellation during class.
Has a surprisingly pleasant voice. Somewhat in middle range, and a tad airy but carrying a nice kind of warmth.
Has high believes in divination. Religiously checks the tea leaves in her cup every morning. Allows students to call them whatever they please. Sir, Ma’am, Professor. Even Betelgeuse is accepted as long as the student shows his or her respect.
Often sits down with students after class, just to chat about how they are doing
Has no contact with his brother anymore outside of rare formal family occasions.
